no oil bypass filters, and they are up to 50,000 mile service intervals now. They dont really care about the equipment or much less care about the drivers, as long as those shiny pete's look good rolling down the road at 63 mph.

There is 2 filters on these cats. I know my truck never burns more than a gal between changes, still nice and clean when its drained. And i deal with the nyc area with lots of stop n go traffic At 15k you would be in a shop bout every 20 days or so.

thank you all for all the posts so far they have been very helpful for me. I do have to say that 15k miles is still kind of high but that is just my thinking I have heard it should be changed between 10-12k. Also the running at 65 would not bother me because I drive my personal truck at that speed so I'm used to getting passed it doesn't bother me at all. I still have until December to decide where I want to go and I have already talked to Gus and he said to call him back when I was ready and i was good to go.

Please keep the post coming they have been extremely helpful

No I deliver to all the freds stores, its like a dollar store in the south east so I mostly run ga,al,fl an sc.

Talking about the double clutching don't sweat that to much if you can drive a 5 speed it shouldn't take but bout 20min an you will have it down if that long. An at the end of the day companys really don't care if you float just as long you don't leave the trans at the red light. My trainer with tmc tought me to float an been doing it every since. As far as the automatic I was the same way to start. Wasn't sure how auto would do on mountains an used it to judge when to pull over "if I grind or miss I'm to tired an time to stop" but last year I got an auto with a clutch peddal an first trip threw atl I fell in love. Its so much easier on hills, traffic or eating than a standered.iv put in my yrs changing gears an After this truck I hope I never have to chang another one. Now I drove an auto with no clutch peddal but not sure about thoes yet. Backing it seem like it didn't have any power then when I punched it I was bouncing like crazy guess something u gotta get use to or maybe just that truck I don't know. But then again in really tight spots I still ride the clutch so that could be it.

On the oil changes we go 25k or three months. But like the other guy said I do think most pep are going twice that now especially with synthetic oil. Also your asking about tmc, is it because of the trucks? If so you may can check out smith transportation. Same truck just dri van an iv never heared anything bad out of them. But iv only talked to a few of there drivers. If you do go to tmc, some advice they let you pick what you want 379 or 387 I'd pick the 379. Not only to me its the best looking truck on the road but being a lot lighter you don't have to worrie about weight quite as much.

I have heard drivers having the same problems with the clutchless automatics when they were backing it just takes getting used to because you are use to having a clutch.

Im not just thinking about TMC for the trucks. I do LOVE 379's and their newer models of the 389's. I am looking at them because they will take me with the very limited experience I do have. Since my first driving job's company doesnt exist anymore I can get any proof of the driving I did do. Also I would like to get more experience with low boys and I know they have some for the John Deere account they have. I really enjoyed hauling machines when I did drive because driving down the road with a execavator that is wider then the trailer is an great challenge.

Also are you sure you get to pick your truck? Because I read that they give you what they have available. Also today I passed one of there boat haulers today on I-12 in LA and it was a KW. Last week a thought I saw a new Freightliner with TMC on the door but Im not positive on that.

Performance driven, where is the performance in their trucks, sure they are c15s but cut back to 63mph and won't pull at all.

One of the reasons for running illegal is they make you tarp every load, driver told me they charge the customer 100.00 bucks for it but only pay you 10.00 and that comes off your available driving time and then with slow truck that gets passed by JB Hunt you are just screwed for running legal, must run two log books to make any money.

Well they let us pick out what body style we wanted. Like I picked out the 379 then the next day they came in an gave me a truck n trl # and keys to go inspect the truck to make sure it was n good shape it was an 04. Then one time in ky a bolt in the head broke an totaly screwed that cat up. They sent me to a shop an the shop said it would take 5-6 days to fix so instead of sitting there they asked me what kind of truck I wanted. Told them I wanted another 379 so they got me a rental car in ky an told me to go to nashville from there they got me a cab an I forgot were I picked that truck up at but just remember it was over an hour cab ride and a $120 bill.but there I picked up a new 05 an drove it till I quit. They did have several owner ops so that may of been the kw you seen. Idk. But all this was 5yrs ago they may of changed a lot since then ya know.

Yeah they might be set at 62 but they can still pull good. Now if your talking 8% at 79k they might drag a bit but what company truck wouldnt. As far as tarps you dont tarp every load. In fact im dedicated hauling shingles, 1-2 loads a day and never tarped any of them. Now drywall, yeah but ive hauled lumber, rebar, i beams, ect without em tarped. If you can manage your time properly, not bs while securing and tarping two log books is not needed. Plus with the qc they will track you to see if your legal or not. I did well otr with them and better in a daycab. Maybe years ago it was different.
