A way to tell how the company of your dreams will be is to ask for a copy of the contract to let your lawyer to go over, and if they drecline then that tells you all you need to know! You won't waste gas or greyhound time to find out!

I think he means it "is" a business whether you think of it that way, or not. Obviously someone who takes a break from driving for two hours every two hours isnt' thinking of trucking as a business, although it still is. I'm pretty sure that's what he's getting at, Trukngrl.

There not bad if you run solo, But i wouldn,t do the team, it hard to find a good team driver with them because they will let anybody drive for them! I mean anybody!

I talked to a guy loading in the same the bay with me last week. He said he had his own truck and drove for years with CRST Malone. He drove his truck into the ground and rather than buy a another one, he did their lease purchase. He's happy with them and what he said is inline with their ads on Sirius/XM. I may give them a shot.

Cool, keep us posted as to how it works out for ya there. Are you going to be a co. driver or l/o, o/o? Flatbedding can be a hard business, but I would do it if the pay was right. I actually liked it, to tell the truth, but I was younger then. Will be looking for your experience on here..

I joined them in 2009 December, It was shaky at first but once you learn the agent list and where to go and where not to go you will do just as good here as any other O/O company. I have never had a problem with pay. I will say that I tend to stay away from the steel factories as there Lease Purchase trucks flood there. There safety score has improved, but they dont do so well in the Road side Inspection part but they are getting better.

I'm curious about the load adjustment. Hubby had a load he had to shift with a couple of pipes and a telephone pole. The pallets were built backwards and the nails backed out. I called the shipper and the agent, to let them know. If we ever pick up a "Camilla" load in N. CA from the same shipper, we WILL check the pallets.
Most of our loads are over-size and light. We usually load everything on our own trailer. I think the going rate for a Malone trailer is 185. We used to pay 175, until we got in trouble for not coming home. We bought our own trailer and haul what we like.
Actually, our guy stands up for us. He calls me and I give him the low-down and ALL names. I am the first to ask for detention, so I take notes. Sometimes, it's a draw, but our guy has never paid a crane claim, when we are on site, because we are on-time, 99.99% I also track miles on escorts. We've also had agents give up part of their commission to pay our dead-head miles in FSC.
Yes, it's coils and tarping. Ask what the load is. If you don't want to tarp, don't take it. The company started in steel mills, they haul coils.
My husband gets "totally ticked off" and I ask him why. It usually gets connected to a company that paid him some percentage in hours.
Sometimes, he just makes up his mind he wants to quit. Malone is not horrible.
*I still need to track down the rest of the IFTA money they took from us, and some $602 they took on account that disappeared - I reserve the right to speak badly about Malone. for stealing from us. -
Join OOIDA and have them look over any contract before you sign. They know what they are doing and have a long list of good and bad companies. I work for American Transport and have nothing bad to say about them. This is all o/o and they have several agents you can work with. In my experience here, I have aligned myself with one agent and do pretty well with them. I know of others that use several agents and do well also. I havent heard anything bad about crst malone except from drivers that Im guessing wouldnt do well anywhere. thats my 2 cents.

I have posted some of our settlement sheets because people always ask. I stand behind what I say. We own our truck and trailer, so our experience is different. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ucking-company-here/128431-crst-malone-7.html -
We don't talk to the lease-to-own people, either. They will prolly be gone in 3 months, so we hang with the older crowd.
We met a 28-year-vet in MS, one day. He tried to make suggestions and I had to say, "I called, nothing for us." Every name, I had called. We didn't have a gold star, or whatever agents use. It's 2 years later and now we can get a load, wherever. I guess we got our gold star. We also don't take crappy loads from agents who sound like they are using drugs. Even if we don't have a load, we tell those people we took a better paying load.
