I got the GPS about 2 weeks ago and here is what I have to say about it
I am so glad that I did not buy it! It was a gift from my company
The Good
big screen
East to learn and use
The bad
Takes to long to calculate the route. Thanks on avg, 3-4 min
Takes to long to recalculate. If you miss your exit your screwed if there are other exits with in a mile.
Major problems when in canada. I had the truck height set to 13.6 and just about every bridge I came up to it always said Bridge Warning Violation. I even switched it over to kilometers and same problem
Speed limits are not correct in the states I run
It has a sharp curve warning and just about every curve it says warning.
This GPS almost has to many bells and whistles
out if 10 i give it a 3.
I am sure there is more i'll have to keep track of everything on a note pad next weekend
Thanks for looking

Make sure you have the car POI's turned off - main screen/preferences/truck/Poi's
What may be happening in Canada, sometimes the restriction that is in the right lane is tied to the other lanes in the mapping database. This is in the main core maps. Let us know what bridges so we can address. One other thing you can try. Set to 13'7" and see if this corrects the issue... but be aware you are 13'6".
Speed limits as stated many times are tied to segements in the mapping database. If the car or truck speed is not correct then this only can be updated via the main map update at this time. Sometimes the way the segments are they do not show a truck speed and the TND will retain the last know truck speed. This is being addressed.
You can turn the sharp curve warning off. Is this in the USA or Canada?
Thanks,

I have the 510 and found that it was very fast and works in Canada. I had a chance to get to know this gps for 2 weeks and can honestly say that I started to trust where it sent me. I can't say that for the other ones I had. It will never be 100%, no gps will be. But it was up there.
Dieselboss Thanks this. -

Well I see the word is starting to get out about just how big of a piece of JUNK the TND710 is. Aside from it's mapping problems, Which they all have the TND710 has major quality control issues. As one reads and listens to just the problems as related to the unit itself it is becoming quit clear that Rand cut a lot of corners in production on this unit. To start with the unit itself is not robust enough to survive in a trucking environment. The TND710 has been found to have problems with every thing from losing sound, frozen screens, power cord failures, on \off button issues and slow processor speed, and now I hear they are recalling them for bubbles in the middle of the screen. The sad part of this story is Rand knows of all these issues and continues to sell this Junk to Drivers all over the country. I once wrote here that even some of the truck stops were not carrying the 710 any more because of all of the returns. I was immediately called a liar by Rand and it's employees. Drivers do your homework before you lay down your hard earned cash on the TND710. Ask at the truck stops about the return rates on these units. If they don't have any in stock ask why. Talk to other drivers about the 710. Read all the post you can on this board and others about this unit before you spend your money on the TND710. Don't buy into their hype and get stuck with a bad choice. It probably took you a week or more to make and save $500.00 to purchase a GPS unit. Spend at least that long looking into the TND710 before you purchase one. You might be surprised in what you find out. Good luck!

Return rates - I am still waiting for the Pilot you mentioned to me in a PM. At least the store number.
Price is $399.
I am still waiting for aggie1978 to at least give me his name or truck number. The safety at his company said none have been returned and that they are supposed to stay in the truck as truck equipment.
I have asked for details, yet none provided.
Thanks,

Of course I took the plastic off of the screen. Funny thing is on this occasion I was not even the customer involved in the conversation. I was next in line at Loves and the girl was selling a 500 because and I quote ( we don't have any 700s because they are on recall because of bubbles in the screen) unquote! Well you know I had to get involved after hearing that and she repeated the same thing to me. It just so happens that one of mine also does the same thing. I have just been living with it. At least the sound has worked for more than 3 weeks on this one. Just so you don't call me a liar again when I get back to the house I will call in and get a RMA and send you the # so you can verify what I am saying. Last time you questioned my sending units back for repairs. This will be the 3rd one sent back in 4.5 months. Also have turned 4 others back in at truck stops for new ones. Still have the return receipts in the boxes with my last two I have left. Lots of problems with these units and you know it. No matter, more and more drivers will start writing about problems they are having with these units and you won't be able to cover it up any more. In the end Rand will pay a price in sales and will have to pull this junk off the market to get and keep a customer base and market share. BTW the Cobra is still working like a charm after 3 weeks! Running the Cobra and 710 side by side and the 710 in being sent back for the bubble. Will open the next 710 and run it the same way and I'll bet you it won't last either. How about it mark $100.00 on the next RMA # ? I will post it right here for all to see. I'm sure Rand will cover the bet for you.
