Drivers who don't follow the traffic flow at a truck stop thinking they're going to get the very last parking spot that the rest of us passed by because we aren't set up right for it.
Do's and Don't when pulling into a truck stop?

Our truck stop has about 75 truck parking spaces but can only accommodate probably 55 because the rigs are parked all over the place and in all directions. The rentacop and the truck stop will not enforce parking standards.
I knew the world was going to HE LL back in the sixties when the family doctor took the ashtray out of the waiting room and on The Leave it to Beaver show, when Mrs. Cleaver said to Ward Cleaver 'gee Ward weren't you a little rough on the Beaver last night'. The world has changed and not for the betterment of all mankind.

the biggest peeve is the ones that come flying into the lot with no regard to what is going on. SLOW Down!!!. it not a race course to find a spot or get to the fuel island.
the other is if you arent going to fuel up dont pull in cuz you are in my way. also if your down filling up pull your rig up and let me get fuel.
ok ok enuf rantin fer now. -
Example....
Flying J in Edmonton @ 10:00 Am Saturday Morning, A Bison Driver had just finished fueling, pulled ahead, and was walking into the Ts.
i pulled in behind him, Fueled my passenger tank, first (most Canadian locations will not fuel both sides at once), began my walk around, tire and light check, finished fueling the first tank and then went on to the drivers side, while continuing my checks, Once done the Bison truck was still sitting there....
As much as I hate doing it, I went inside for a quick leak, and to grab my fuel receipt...
While in the washroom I saw the Driver who was parked in front of me performing his grooming requirements for the day, I went out to get my receipt from the till as the kiosk was dead...
After sitting in line for 5 minutes to get the receipt, the offending driver slowly walks into view.
I was on my way out an stopped him to say that....
I had fueled both tanks, did all my checks, came in to go to the washroom, and got my receipt...This was done all before he could get back to his truck to allow me to get out of the pumps so someone else could get in to fuel... I had to wait another 5 to 10 minutes before he could finish his shopping, and get back out to his truck...
This entire time that fuel pump was not available so that anyone else could fuel...
In hindsight I should have backed out of the fuel island, but I had figured that certainly the guy in front would be back in the time I went in and came back ...
I was wrong
His reaction to this was that he did not care, I believe that to be true of the vast majority of the drivers out there, and that is sad to me.
I think if you are serious about this all you need to come up with a do's and dont list is rely on Common Courtesy, and Common Sense (which neither seem to be all that common anymore)
The sad thing is that had this driver driven straight ahead into the first lane there were spots available less then 100 feet away!
The other option would have been what I did ....
####/Shower/Shave before my truck even starts in the morning so once I hit the fuel island I can get in and get out so i am not holding other people up....
Good Luck -
In my old career we surveyed fast food restaurants. Some of those "Mac-attackers" would get close to 30-40 miles an hour (it seemed) in those parking lots. While we were in there measuring....

Cool drawing interstate! Very creative or bored!
Matt, I gotta tell you, I am surprised at the reply you got when asking if the bobtail driver would move! Its getting more and more rare to find the good ol' fashion american truckers out there! Back in the day truckers were the knights of the highway. I have always tried to go above and beyond to be nice to other drivers or anyone for that matter out there. I have met a lot of good friends in doing so. Not to mention, you would be surprised how far you get with someone if you are nice to them. A little niceness goes a long way out there. I once stopped to help a brand new driver put chains on. I took a little extra time to teach him how to do it and when we were done he gave me $40! Actually saw the same guy a few weeks later, a few states away and we had breakfast together. My wife and I really enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends out there. Most of all we enjoyed the stories that came with the new friends! On a regular basis we would run into someone we knew and it really made this country feel like a tiny little town.
So be nice out there, play well with others, share and most important of all lend a hand to a fellow driver (you never know they may have a hot sister!)
Some truck stops do have bobtail parking. I have also seen some that have pull through only too. Those guys pullin doubles and triples need to rest too!
