Only time I ever had a load over 2000 was when I was a trainer...pulling a reefer....

Here's another chapter in what is becoming a really bad joke of a company.
So my new load has an extra pickup. I make my first pickup early this morning. I can work my hours using split berth to get me about 30 mins from the receiver a day before my appointment. It is close to home so the GF was going to come visit me. Anyway I rested 8 hours in the sleeper after my first pickup, drive to my second pickup planning on taking a 2 hour break here while loading then have enough drive time to get to hagerstown MD (receiver is in Frederick) around 10pm. I get to my second pickup to find the company did not provide me with a proper pickup number. It is now an hour after my scheduled pickup appointment and I am now being told they are having trouble getting my pickup number and I may need my appointment rescheduled for tomorrow which means I'll be spending a wasted day here waiting because of this companies total incompetence.
This is not the first time this has happened. I have waited over 5 hours for an appointment to be rescheduled because they sent me on a load I could never deliver on time, and they were informed of this by me and told to take it anyway. Then I was told to t-call that load 60 miles away, then after t-calling it was told to take that load back to the receiver the next day.
I have also had several times been given incorrect or no pickup/delivery numbers. I sat at a wal-mart DC for over 3 hours waiting to find out they had forgot 1 digit in my delivery number.
Before becoming a driver I managed and ran a business over the span of 17 years and I can tell you this is not the proper way to do business.Last edited: Oct 10, 2011

Same crap different day at pam sounds almost like the same load im on. Delivered in london, ky on friday night got a my next load info that nite picked up 260 miles away in princeton,ky at 1600 saturday afternoon got there and load was gone had to wait around for five hours for dispatch to give me the pu number of the 2nd load that was there and after all this in a 14 hour day only drove 300 miles.
The best part part it doesn't deliver til 0130 on the 11th(tonight) so only just over 3 days to go 900 miles and by time normal dm comes to work monday morning its too close to delv appt. time to drop and reschedule.
So if u end up and in hagerstown, md there will be too of us sitting around doing nothing. Just another wonderful day at p.a.m -
I seriously doubt you know a tenth about this industry. Hell, I may know ~20% of everything that goes into this industry and that's not for lacking of learning. There's just that many variables.
Edit to add: We're approaching the slow season too. Get ready for even fewer miles per paycheck, sitting for 2-4 days, etc. I've had Decembers with great miles and then weeks I could walk further than I drove. Keep your your attitude in check and make it past January and the miles should pick up. -
And I'm still here getting between 2700 - 3100/week solo. Unfortunately when i come off my home time, which has been a pain in the ### to get (3 weeks after the fact and probably only cus my license was expiring) they're putting me on team. Telling me we'll average about 4100/week as a team which to me is crap
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
I'd tell 'em where they could park that truck. I don't do "teams". Apart from the 3 weeks I was with a trainer, I never have, and I never will, be in a truck that I do not have physical control over. I either drive every mile the truck moves while I'm in it, or it doesn't move with me in it. -
Incidentally once again you fail to quote the whole relevant part of the thread, just quoting what you see fit...wrong/missing pickup/delivery numbers, impossible deliveries, those indeed happen to me as often as I have stated. But I guess it only happens to me and no one else. If my customers headstones were consistently installed late, or god forbid a grave not ready for the funeral, or dug in the wrong place, incorrect type, style, or lettering on a headstone...that all costs the company money. In a small company these errors are serious issues. In a large company where you can pay a mass amount of employees a pittance to make up for the incompetance I guess it's acceptable.
I will grind through my year to get the experience I need, but if things stay the way they are I doubt I will stick around.Last edited: Oct 23, 2011
