Evidently Mo is overrun with doctors who have nothing to do. Last week passed thru never saw so many bill boards with all kinds of ailments, cures, miracle working hospitals and doctors. Probabley looking for a desease to scam more hard workers and taxpayer dollars for research. Maybe I can go to prime and they will invent one for me, espeacily if I pay double or triple for a physical!

I figure I deserve to *bump* this since I read the first 61 pages of this incredible thread! Actually I need to get a life, but I'm working on that...lol! So yeah I skipped the last half of this EPIC thread, so sue me. I learned a lot in those first 61 pages, I will say that much. I am a prolific writer, so as soon as I can get back into this business, (that I left thinking the grass was greener somewhere else 16 years ago), ya'll better hope I'm running hard! :biggrin_25516:

So yeah I want to drive for Prime! Bottom feeder? lmao!

Not many of you were around back in the early 80's when NAVL was selling tractors for like $500.00 down. Couple weeks in school, quick road test, hand you the keys to a used Int CO4070 single axle, no jake, no power steering, no AIR conditioning, bobtail you to Ohio, pick up a load of appliances and send ya to the East Coast or where ever you lived. (I was living in NJ at the time.) Second load from Jersey to LA, no routing, looked at an atlas, I-70 for me all the way(what was completed of it at least) to I-15(ahh Cajon Pass, brakes smoking way b4 I got to the scales...lol)

Anyway that was bottom feeding at it's finest! Only outfit worse was some company out of Ft "something", Kansas.(can't remember the name...old age and all :biggrin_25523: ) But I made money. Good money and in about 6 months put a down payment on brand new bad-### Pete Cabover, BIG engine, BIG sleeper, long wheelbase and ran that with NAVL for a few more years until I let someone talk me into being a "meathauler" running turns out of the Windy back to the Big Apple overnight.

Ahhh those were the days... I was "swinging" all the way across I-80 in PA.(just had to get the "dead girls" leaning right...:biggrin_2559:) And there was that one bridge west of Snowshoe, at the bottom of a curve, where I could "suck up a seat cushion".......:biggrin_2552:

I've read A LOT of info about a lot of companies on here and if Prime is "bottom feeding" ??? lol, count me in! I can "feed" like that ALL day long!!!

Back to the OP...(posted the last decade wasn't it?) The third thing the recruiter asked me was about BMI. I don't like the govt much but this is NOT the industry to be in if you can't handle rules and regs.

I've seen this industry change a whole lot. I was 19 years old, had a regular license(pre-cdl) and answered an ad in the paper for a tanker driver hauling hazardous waste from NJ up Rte 17 to the NYS Thruway to Albany. Only experience I had was backing in a few trailers with a yard switcher on my lunch break at a food distribution warehouse where I worked in the freezer picking orders. Guy handed me the keys to an old Jimmy and away I went (Took me about 3 traffic lights to figure out why the truck kept moving when I was stopped and my foot was buried in the brake pedal...) :biggrin_25526:

So I'll play the game, just like I did in the past, because the thing I miss the most is not having anyone looking over my shoulder. There is nothing quite like trucking... Oh yeah, the grass USUALLY isn't greener...lol IMHO! Later...

ShuX HowdY Imyouroldman,............ no, ......... wait,......
    That doesn't sound right.
    Hmmmmmmmm ----
Mind if I just call you IYOM?
After all, I have an image to protect
    and a reputation to consider.
We don't need no rumors floatin' 'round.

At any rate, Welcome to the forums.
I understand that you've confessed to bein' a "prolific writer".
I've been accused of that so many times that I automatically stand up and raise my hand whenever I hear or read those words in that order.
And this time was no different.
Only problem is, my keyboard was in my lap at the time and, as I'm sure y'all can imagine, it went crashin' to the floor, --- gravity and all that. Fortunately, as evidenced by my continued addition to this post, most of the keys are still functional, but I'll have to substitute words containin' letters with busted keys.

    But, ....................... I digress. .............................. a lot.

    Where was I?
    Oh, yeah.
    Thanx, ..... whoever reminded me.

What I wanted to say is that I thoroughly enjoyed readin' your post. I've never encountered a thread or post that I couldn't read in it's entirety, --- when and if I set my mind to do so.
Size matters, but I fear not the length of written words combined together to form a story.
Except, ..................... well, ..... I have a rule, that is, I never read what I write while I write it, or even after it's been written.
    I'm informed that's unusual.
    The informants might be correct.

Speakin' of unusual, .......... I'm thinkin' that your expectations of what the Big truck truckin' industry is like these daze just might be considered unusual, ........ sad to say. It ain't what it used to be. Now-a-daze it feels like somethin' is squeezin' a sensitive part of the male anatomy while a certain orifice receives a probin'. You may not have someone lookin' over your shoulder, but it'll feel like it.

Those just enterin' the industry will probably never know the feelin' of the past and won't comprehend what those who were there, did that, and now write the books in an attempt to describe that which can be vividly remembered, -- then transferred into words -- are tryin' to convey. The even harder part is tryin' to explain and describe what it felt like back in the day. It's said that one doesn't miss what one never had. But I'm thinkin' it ain't unreasonable to assume that those who've had it, will.

Of course there are exceptions, fewer and farther between and addin' distance at an alarming rate. I hope you can locate one of them. Perhaps Prime will be a good fit for you. And maybe they've changed more than you realize.
One way or thuther, I hope you'll keep us up to speed as you find out. Use as many words as you want. Be as prolific as you wanna be. I'll read 'em all without even movin' my lips.
Well, ........ maybe a tad, ---- when your wit causes me to grin or your humor cracks me up.
    Thanx!
    I appreciate that.
    Needed it, too.

Good luck and best of success.

Prime is NOT the only one that fails people because they are over weight. If you can't slide that gut under the steps/fuel tanks you are way to big and are a risk. Don't single out 1 company. As far as going for a "sleep study" that's BS, they will not hire her because she is a risk they will not and can not make anyone pay $1000 for a "sleep study". Sorry but if you are over weight stop eating out so much. There are so many drivers out there that if companies started doing random BMI's a lot of jobs will become open, lol
