Yes, you will be road tested, not sure if that includes backing. However I would not worry about it either way. With less then 6 months experience you will be going out with a trainer anyway. I doubt you can fail the road test at this point and it result in your job offer being withdrawn. It's the road test after you get after training that is the pass or fail one. By this point you should have both the necessary backing skills as well as a bit of real world backing experience, and should do fine.

I went through orientation at Atlanta in August. There was 19 people in our class and we had it in the basement of the hotel. The first day we went to the clinic to get physicals 6 at a time. Then 2 trainers came by and gave us our driving tests. Mine did not involve backing, but I hesitate to say you can expect this. I think if the class is much smaller the guy in safety gives them. I do not know if he includes backing in his tests. Maybe somebody else can weigh in here with better information.

I really appreciate all of the info! I'm a little uneasy just because I've been out of school for 2 months. I think I'll be fine though. I worry too much. I'm really excited to get my trucking career started! Thanks again

Just make sure your blood sugar and blood pressure are fine. If you have problems with either I suggest fasting for 24 hours before that tuesday. I did I got through that part OK, but my blood pressure was way too high and I only got a 3 month physical. August was a trying month for me and I was not in best form that day. My doctor gave me a clean bill of health a week later, but I still have to go do that physical again. If it is high then I am out of a job.

Oh ok thanks for the advice. I dont think I should have any problems with that but I may fast the day before just to be on the safe side. I'm really freakin excited to get started. Just got off the phone with my recruiter Doug, who by the way seems like an extremely nice guy, and he just set me up with a bus ticket and gave me all the info I need for orientation. Cant wait!!
