    A quick search does not show it. I will submit to the GIS dept to see what they can find.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Small world, we are practically neighbors. I'm just down the road in Carlisle. I hear you about small town names and borders, it can be a real pain at times. I use an iPad with google maps to confirm a location first, it's also great for checking out docking and access driveways etc.

    Believe me if I thought it was something that I was doing wrong I would much rather know it than go through this nightmare. But I've already eliminated that scenario just for the fact that the 3rd unit I received was defective right out of the box on the first plug in. I hadn't even left the yard yet! That combined with the process of elimination of everything else it could possibly be in regards to my truck tells me that either the unit is defective or it's the power cord that comes with it. When my second unit failed they insisted it had to be the power cord so they sent me a new cord that is identical to the original cord. Could I have tried another power cord from another manufacturer? Sure, but since Rand McNally will void your warranty if you do there was no way I was going down that road.

    Here's what I think the problem is;

    In the beginnining they told my husband that the refurbished unit they were sending me was one that had the same USB problem and that they fixed it and basically it was as good as new.

    My theory is that they're not fixing these units at all. I think they're just sending these units right back out again as is because they're not taking the problem or the dissatisfied customer seriously. My second unit still had another trucker's settings still in it.

    On my last go around with tech support he told me to send the unit back so he could bench test it. I don't need it to be bench tested. I bench test it every night at home on the AC charger. It needs to be road tested.
    The unit does the same thing whether it's in my truck or in my personal vehicles. So, I'm supposed to do all of the trouble shooting on my end but they're only going to do so much on they're end. Guilty until proven innocent right? And why do I have to tell Rand McNally that they need to road test this unit after explaining on the phone and in writing in great detail the problem that I'm having with it? They're supposed to be the best in the industry at this trucker GPS stuff. That's why I went with them in the first place.

    I sent my unit back and they are supposedly going to send me a 4th one that's new and still in the box. I hope and pray this will be the end of it. Mark, the lead beta tester has offered to help. We'll see what happens.

    I do in-house repairs of all models for my testers when they have field tested them and break them. I expect the Beta Testers to be rough on them. But, a customer should not have to pamper a unit out of the box to get it to preform for what it was intended for. The customer has the right to expect the product to do its job.

    Dropping it and breaking the screen is a different story.

    You have gone through way too much for what you have expected.

    If you do not feel 100% sure of the 4th replacement, let me know and I will look at it at no cost to you.

    Thanks,
    mark

    Hey Mark, in the new beta maps, is US 35 in WV fixed? Right now the unit is worthlless from I64 to the Ohio Line.

    I appreciate that. Let's see what happens with the next one. Hopefully, I won't have to take you up on that.

    Will the address book from a TND 700 copy over to a TND 510? My 700's power plug is getting flakier and I really don't want to pay $400 for another one with the same problems (It seems like the 5" ones aren't having the power cord issues)
