I'm definitely still going with Roehl. So far their one of the better starter companies that I've seen from researching. I plan to work for them and get my year in and then move to Crete, Arnold, or Landstar.
I was going to go to COMCAR but all their trucks are automatics. I don't want to start in an Auto.
Stay away from ROEHL!!

Roehl has put cameras in trucks...but only in trucks with drivers that have had numerous "incidents" (accidents, hard braking, reports etc). even then the cameras are few and far between...
Yeah I work for Roehl...Haven't had one single problem with them...I just shut up and drive, and don't really complain about stuff that I can't fix or is not really my business...I average about 28-3500 miles a week sometimes more, sometimes a little less depending on how many hours I have, or if Ihave to be home for something...
I have had a late load..I sucked it up and took responsibility for it and I came out roses big deal...
what everyone complains about is the same crap every company has...if you don't like it buy your own #### truck and trailer and work independent...otherwise suck it up buttercup...sewerman, notezbngrn71 and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Why would I be sorry?
I'd be gaining experience in knowing what Roehl is like. I've spoken with Roehl drivers both on here and at truck stops, and they've been pretty much the same in answering my questions. As far as cameras in the truck I've been told they'll put a camera in the truck and monitor what you do if you have numerous accidents, late on loads a lot, or you have hard braking very often as stated before.
It's a good start, I've never been told one bad thing as far as driver mistreat, stealing money off your paycheck, or anything like that. I'm not looking to make a lot of money in trucking. I'm doing this for me, not money. I'm getting into trucking because I love driving. It's what drives me, and makes me happy. I work at the county sheriff's office making $29k a year. I'll be happy if I can make the same amount or more per year working for Roehl. Even if my DM wants me to stay out 2-3 months then I'm going for it. I need to get my foot in the door and gain experience.
I want to become an O/O in the future. If I can make enough money to pay for fuel, my truck payment, insurance, cell phone bill, and put money in my maintenance account then I'll be perfectly happy.
I'm going into this with only the expectations of being run with low miles and being paid low because I'm a new driver. I'm not expecting anything extreme. -
Yet another rookie with stars in their eyes about becoming an O/O
Trust me you will find out the hard way what Roehl and these other big box carriers are all about:
No Miles, negative paychecks, rude treatment, unsafe equipment, and long layovers.
Staying out for months will do you no good if your wheels hardly ever turn, and when they do turn only turn at 62 MPH.
Get your foot in the door somewhere else -
Wow....glad I am gettig this information on how bad Roehl is........I thought my dispatcher had been pretty cool, and that the fact that I average around 2300 miles a week including home time, the 6500 miles I ran the past two weeks and the fact that my FULL paycheck is there each and every week was cool. I guess I better look closer at my truck also because apparently accordding to some people it is in bad shape.......Or just maybe if you do your job and get the load there on time or early, you get treated pretty well here.
UGA79 and notezbngrn71 Thank this. -
I'm not worried about putting in long hours. I know I'm going into trucking as a rookie, a Greenhorn if you will. I'm not looking to make a lot of money or get the best runs.
I am expecting however, for them to run me a lot of hours and not worry a whole lot about getting me home on time. If they start taking things out of my paycheck then I would have problems with that. Although, every driver at a truck-stop I've talked to that works for Roehl, hasn't had anything like that happen to them.
I don't expect to get top notch equipment when starting with this company.
Do you work for Roehl Diesel_Weasel?123456 Thanks this. -

Actually there are lots of crappy, low pay, treat you like dirt companys out there that hire the people you talk about and thats why this industry is the way that it is.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Don't come to roehl PLEASE! They are horrible zombie monsters that rape you if you idle too much. And the safety department puts cameras in your bedroom at home, and sell naked pictures of your children to pedophiles to pay their fuel bill!
There are some ignorant gullible ppl on this thread that believe everything so I figured I'd mess with them.
