I found what works best for me..............I never float when I'm downshifting, I float the lower range gears and use the clutch in the high range. Although I dont really double clutch, if you can consistently hit the sweet spot you dont need to!
It just feels like my truck likes it better that way
floating vs double clutching

There's no strain on the driveline and tranny if you are doing it properly. Most drivers strain the tranny and driveline more with the clutch by snapping it or riding it when they use the clutch.

Thanks for the input its people like you all that are the reason a wannabe soon to be rookie like me won't come into the industry so blind in clueless
-
Yeah when I started there were no forums or internet. Not to mention like a dumb@ss I went without a trainer! You could spot this newbie from miles away! I remember driving across IL and ruts were really bad in the road. Truck was swerving all over the place. I kept stopping and checking my tires and suspension, thought there was something wrong with my truck. Got to the truck stop and crawled up under there to really inspect it and another "experienced" driver came up and asked if I needed help. Told him what was going on and he about pee'd himself laughing! Believe me, this wasn't my only newbie mishap either! #### I wish I would have had the internet (and a trainer)!!!

Well I'm sure ther are rookies out there that made worse mistakes good thing about mistakes is u can learn from them and look back and laugh later well at least as long as they where not life altering mistakes anyway. Hey got any tips for a wanna be about backing into t/s parking spots?
-
turn your cb off when your backing up so you dont hear the comments of some that choose to be idiots and make fun, they usually call themselves SUPERTRUCKERS
-
Yes! Get there before 4pm! Or avoid staying there. Just run in and get your shower between 10-3 and you will be fine. No shower line and wide open spaces in the parking lot!

I usually clutch out and float the gear in. I took so long double clutching, that I couldn't get up hills. Everyone had their item tricks. Use what works best for you.
