What about CRST Malone?

We also belong to OOIDA. We do fine with crst-malone. I do need to call them and ask them where some of our money went. I have to do it about every six months. This time it's large amounts. They should know I would call. I catch $50.

They say we paid 298 in fuel taxes. They took 598. They also took another 602.

 

Don't know when you left, things have really changed. Our approved broker list is always subject to lawsuits. If Granny ran her van under a CRST van that was hauling a load, her atty sues and WE don't get loads. Any lawsuit with CRST means we don't get loads. Total Quality requires over 75 on safety. I only remember all of them, when I'm looking at a loadboard.

I had an approved broker load and a NO-LOAD list. Everything from my no load list still applies.

The approved list changes.

Tulsa is now different from the City and the City sends everything on his own trucks

 

I am an L/P driver and am I allowed to run were ever I choose, no questions asked. If you prove to them that you have a good buisness head on your shoulders and don't need your fleet manager to hold your hand they have no qualms about letting you run into Texas and out West.
Some guys go out West and into Texas and cry about there not being any decent paying freight, I will use Truckstop.net Landstars loadboard etc. to supplement Malone's freight in those situations.
Perfect example of some guys not having a clue how to run there buisness....I took a load of crane mats from Kansas up to BFE Minnesota, it paid good money to go up there, but I knew before taking the load that I would most likely have to dhead a considerable distance to get back to a good freight area. Well there were 4 other drivers that loaded down in Kansas, we all arrive about the same time in Minnesota, two guys had no fuel left and were asking "where is the closest truck stop?, I need fuel." You know your going out to BFE Minnesota shouldn't you make sure you have enough fuel to make it back to civilazation? I took $200 dollars less on a fuel advance then they offered, and I still ended up with half a tank. One driver said "well how did manage that?" Uh gee I don't know I run about 63 mph everywhere I go, I avg. 7.1 mpg .... so I ask this driver what type of fuel mileage do you get? " shoot I have no clue" Theres your sign.

 

We had a buddy sign up and we would tell him how much he needed in fuel. He wouldn't listen, was always broke and late. He called us after he couldn't get more money from CRST. We haven't heard from him since he got fired.

We always know how much fuel money we need. It's basic.

 

I have had the same experiance, if i go somewhere that malone normally wont let a lp driver go they let me b/c if i take that load it pays enough to deliver and get back to good freight and still make money. by the way I jus hauled that same load not too long ago.
what truck do you have b/c my pos ex shaffer century sux fuel, when i first got it i was lucky to see 4.25 im at 5.8 avg up to 6.5 if im lucky and light and flat!!!

 

Originally I had an old crete truck, but now im in an 08 columbia gold truck. I have installed the turbo 3000, aircell, and I always run my tires at 105 psi. I idle less then 5% and run 63mph everywhere I go. Next time you get a service done have them do a pressure test on the charge air cooler, if its leaking you losing money right there.

can a person bring home $3000 per week and how does the whole get paid twice a week thing work?

 

3000 a week would be tough, I have heard of guys hitting 3K occasionally, but thats if everything falls into place and they stumble on some killer loads. My best week was $2556 to the house. My last 4 week average has been $1965.76 to the house.

If your a true O/O you get paid twice a week I think Tues. and Friday, L/P guys are paid once a week.

 

So... is it safe to assume that CRST-Malone is not worth my time? I do however have a former employee that works there as an o/o and I'm looking to move there myself. He's been with them for over 2 yrs. and outside of the usual B.S. he likes them. I'm open to all opinions.
