    The specs as noted.

    5 pin

    5" - 1 amp out.

    7" - 2 amp out.

You will be hard pressed to find a 2 amp out cord. Most for sale are .500 amp to 1 amp.

If the cord is the issue, then it should be replaced via Rand.

    Thanks,
    Mark

They need some updating then, you can take us35 right off from I-64 and it's freeway for a decent section. No use going up wv34 anymore unless your going to or coming from the truckstop.

It might be tagged as WV 34/US 35, just the mapping shows WV 34.

    Thanks,

have you checked your own power supply is normal ? just asking as 4 units having faulted is rather high off general quality control levels for manufacturing- not saying absolutely impossible but Im fairly certain a qc analyst would suggest that though

On the road, the 2amp is not as common as the 1 amp out. Most stores only have the 500ma or 1000ma.

    Thanks,

Dude, he has said several times that it takes a 2 Amp cord. Most of those other cords are 1 Amp or less.

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Most common is the 4 pin USB.

Rand uses the 5 pin USB.

500 models use the 1 amp

700 models use the 2 amp.

The 700 models run a HD screen. The current draw is more than the 500 models. You can use a 2 amp on a 500 model, but not a 1 amp on the 700 model. The 1 amp will not provide enough current draw to fulfill the battery charging and HD screen at the same time. After a few hours of minimum charge the unit will go to a blank screen and turn off.

    Thanks,
    Mark

After using one for awhile, the real issue is letting the charger cord just hang from the plug. Couple that with the vibration we get in a big truck going over these not-much-better-than-goat-trails that Congress and the Several States think they don't need to maintain - and you have issues.

Do yourselves a favor... get a nylon zip tie and secure the charger cord, with extra slack past the tie. Seems to have cured all of my ills with the charging issue.

There may be an issue with the power-on-reset circuit. I can't get mine to turn off - however, if you pull the battery plug and let it run down for awhile, the ON/OFF switch will turn the unit off. Never have had a problem with the RESET function - that always will cure any software ills that pop-up.
