I have read this both ways on SWIFTS's DOT Physical. Do they still use the weights and stuff? I want someone that has personally been thru the SWIFT Physical lets say this year 2011 and completed their training to answer this.
Can you give detail on their physical? I ask because I do have high blood pressure and blood sugar. I control both with daily pills. I am also overweight and I have been loosing, but I am still over weight. I am supposed to start next Monday Oct 31, 2011.

"Work Well", Swift's physical fitness portion of the physical process, is a thing of the past. As for high blood pressure and blood sugar I don't know the specifics as to what the acceptable levels are. You definitely need to bring any and all paperwork regarding any sort of health problems/questions with you. Also, I would suggest a call to your recruiter regarding the matter. They should be able to give you more information about the specifics of Swift's/ DOT's requirements.

Its just a standard DOT physical. BP can be an issue but if its controled with meds you will be fine. To get a 2 year card you need to be lower than 140/90. Since you are on meds you will want to have documentation from your doctor on that as well. I'm fortunate for now, last mine was checked its was 123/82 and that was all stressed out in an ER plus I smoke. I have a family history of high bp but it seems to have skipped me.
As far as blood sugar as long as you are not injecting insulin you are fine as far as the FMCSA is concerned. Just be aware if your condition gets out of hand and you need insulin in the future this will DQ you from operating a CMV.
Here this should have the info you need -

And a tape measure around the neck to see if you have sleep apnea.

If you haven't taken care of yourself and allowed yourself to get into that kind of physical condition...you'll probably collapse behind the wheel soon. I joined Swift 6months ago and the physical was typical.

Just completed the dot physical today.
They do check your bp and it needs to be good or managed by meds.
I have sleep apnea so my card was issued for 1 year instead of 2 years because I'm required to have a sleep study once a year.
Make sure you bring any paperwork from your doctors this will help in there determining of issuing a dot card for you. -
