How does the whole system work with Fedex Ground for Fleet owners. Im looking to put 2 trucks on with them.
Who do I call?
How much miles do they make?
How much per mile?
What are the truck requirements?
And Is it a good company for small fleets?
Thank you so much!

I am not a contractor but I may can answer some of your questions. 1st you will need to call your nearest linehaul terminal to see if they are accepting any contractors? I will need to know where you live and i can get you the number for that hub? Miles will depend on if you can put solos or teams in the trucks.Teams will get good runs, solos will get something within 4hrs one way. As far as pay If your wanting dedicated runs you bid low bidder wins. Truck must be less than 5 yrs old and pass dot inspection. Also they do random inspections, so keep the trucks up.

Im located in Waterford MI (Metro Detroit). My plan is to put teams ( husband and wife). they stay out for 4-6 weeks at a time. thank you so much.

They will probably be home every weekend like it or not, at the end of the week wherever the team ends up they usually find a load heading back to the home terminal.Closest ground terminal appears to be in Romulus Phone: 1.888.264.6295 Walter Adams is listed as the terminal manager. If that dosent work let me know and I will get some better info when I leave out tommorrow.

I Called, but they had no information on him. then I asked for the manager and he told me that, they only want doubles.

I've been there 4 months and only pulled 3-4 53's the 53 work is mainly for local drivers going to home delivery terminals called "smart posts". Nothing to pulling the double/ triples. You will have to install a pintle hitch and weld on D rings to your rear crossmember for the safety chains.Work is really picking up but my truck has been in the shop all week.

I drive for a contractor here in Columbus. It is now our peak season and I know some hubs and terminals are taking on trucks and drivers. I could not find the contact info for FedEx Ground on their web site. I think you need to find the nearest hub (as Romulus was mentioned before) and call asking for Human Resources or show up and see them. Dispatch has nothing to do with hiring drivers and quite frankly doesn't have the time to deal with it.
I know the truck has to be white. All white. If it's not and they are desperately looking to get trucks signed on you might get by, but for them it will be white by the end of the year.
You have to be incorporated and in good standing in your incorporating state.
You have to pay your employees as such, not contractors themselves. No 10-99, W-2 only.
Teams will usually run out on Tuesdays, back on Saturdays. If not through the week.
You start out on the wheel board (extra load board) and when you have enough points you bid on dedicated runs. You earn points by being there. Longevity. You lose points if your drivers screw up. (accident, etc.)
They are particular about EVERYTHING! No cheating on logs, speeding ticket over 75mph? Fired. But really there is no need to screw off.
I don't think the base pay is all that great. $1.09/mile? But cheap fuel at the terminals (3.85 at Pilot, 3.19 at FedEx for me today) plus a fuel surcharge based on miles, mpgs, where load went, what color the sky is that day... It's confusing.
I would call the HR at your nearest hub for more details, but that's what I know.
As a driver for a contractor, I love it. But I have a dedicated and am home every day.
