Welcome back to the fold Jay. Trucking today is much easier than it was back when we started in my opinion. That old cabover I drove beat the #### out of me and my body could actually take a fair beating back thenAlso the ease of getting dispatched now without having to find a phone and calling in every 30 minutes or so is a new world indeed. All in all things are much easier now. I have very little to complain about with Crete thus far as they pretty much are a non entity in regard to bothering me in any way. I just get the load and roll on until time to go back home. I think you will be happy here. Best of luck.

If I go into the "wayback machine" I remember my communications were limited to a collect phone call once or twice a day from a payphone, and waiting for a reply/load by that same payphone with 10 other truckers..... and driving team 4 on/off and the truck never stopped, but you never got really rested for weeks on end. Yep, things have changed for the better....Lamborghini Owner Op Thanks this. -
Yep me too, only I plan on going trick or treating myself. I think I"m going to dress up as a TRUCKER, put on my trucker ballcap and my SUPERTRUCKER t-shirt. lol
Got vacation time all next week and plan on being home sunday morning, and leaving for camp monday night after halloween. Me and my brothers always take the first week in Nov off and head up camp and do some hunting together. Can't beat that, football on sunday, candy on monday and hunting the rest of the week.
Anyway enjoy your time when you get there and BE SAFE.Lamborghini Owner Op Thanks this. -

Had a nice few days off. Got some hunting in and killed a doe and a spike. Spent last night trick or treating with my little girl. The rain managed to hold off and she scored nicely of which I garnered a few of the overflow into my traveling bag this morning. Picking up now in Richmond and heading to Ochelata, OK. A nice run with a little too much time on it as it doesn't deliver until Friday afternoon. Got the trip planned out so I will be knocking on the door by Thursday afternoon.
Jayhawker and mile marker Thank this. -
A nice easy day today. Slept in a little and then knocked out 500 miles to Mt. Sterling, IL. One of my favorite stopping spots to get reloaded at WM and plenty of parking in the area. Plan on stopping about an hour from the WM tomorrow night so I can time myself in there with no problem. It is one of those with the no arrival until an hour before appt time which sucks because it is going to throw me on the late shift most likely but I will work it out.
In other news I think my son is going to be able to go out with me from time to time now. Hopefully fly him to NC around Thanksgiving and hit the road with him from there. He is pretty excited and so am I. -
A good day. Slept in late again and finally rolled out around 1130. Had planned on stopping at exit 289 in Oklahoma off I-44. There was a TS listed for that exit but I never saw it. I just rolled on down the road and made a call to Pumping Pete's, a small TS about 5 miles the wrong way up US75 and found out they out a couple of spots open for parking. Grabbed the last one and got me a toasted meatball sub right before the store closed down for the win
Just a few miles from my delivery so setting up to be a night time foray after I get unloaded at Wally World tomorrow afternoon. Just enjoying the good weather and hoping my November runs keep running away from the cold.

1560 miles (3 days home)
They got me home a day earlier than I requested which was ok but wouldn't have minded getting another day of driving in.
Seems I am getting a higher percentage of longer loads now than I was the first couple of months. Just finished up a nice run to Oklahoma yesterday and then picked up another 1250+ 5 stopper heading back to NC for Monday and Tuesday deliveries which will get me back through the house for a night which is always a good thing. Decided to call it a night a little early 20 miles or so west of Nashville. May watch a little of the "big" game tonight at the Flying J indoor stadium facilities.
