    Gotta watch that :biggrin_25519:

Last time I went home I stopped in Wytheville, VA because I didn't have enough time to get all the way home...I could have made it to within 10 miles of home (which would have put me in Kingsport, TN), but I just called it quits at the "J" there near Wytheville and went on home the next day.

On the same note...night before last I made it to where I had planned on stopping with 1 minute left on my 14, I cut that one a bit close...but it was Mavericks fault...they got me in there in Little Rock to get caught up on some annual training (I was 3 years behind :biggrin_25523:) and to take a short class so I could get that safety point removed (speeding ticket a while back)...and they also rebuilt the entire rear of my trailer while I was there...new wheels, new hubs, new brakes, new drums, new tires, new bearings...everything.

Thats what got me in a bind...but giving credit where it is due, they DID get it done in record time.

They actually only wanted me to take 2 of those classes then (was gonna get the other 2 later)...but Ed talked me into doing them all and getting it over with.

Theres times depending on the situation where I'll just eat the 14hr if I can get stopped within 6min of it. An example would be getting held up at a shipper and its either stay there or try to beat the clock to a truckstop. If Im within 10mi of home then Im goin on in however my last chance to stop would be 26mi from home. So it would be a moot point :) If I know its goin to be real late gettin home I'll just get cozy at the truckstop because the wife aint goin to be up anyway.

If I did not have to leave on Sunday to go to NC I would have stopped. But I wanted to get my 34 hr restart in. When I first went on the e logs it asked me if about the previous days and I said ok without really thinking about it...On the elogs it showed that I had not run on Monday which I had...on paper logs.
So if I did not get the restart, it would have thought that I had more time to drive on my 70 then I really had.
As you know, this only gave me 25 points, and with the month ending on Monday, I do not have to worry about going over 100 points for the month. So I made the decision to go on home. I would not have done it if it was real late at night where a drunk could have run into me....
Other than that issue.....I really like them.

Since I was off on Saturday and Sunday I was mt Monday Morning. I went up to the truck at 7:00 so that I could get on the board. Took a nice long nap in the truck and woke up at around 08:30 and still did not have anything. I put a call into Graylin to make sure that I was on the board. He said he would check with the csr to see what was going on. I almost immediately got a load to pick up in Butler heading to Comanche Ia. In the time it took me to write everything down, I got that load cancelled and got another load picking up in Columbus going to one of my least favorite places....Precision Strip in Talladega....Yuck.
The bad part about this load other than where it was going, was that it did not deliver until 1800 on Tuesday Evening. There were about 6 or 7 loads that were unloading late.
I made it down to the Welcome center just inside Alabama Monday night and stayed there until around 1800 on Tuesday. It was really pretty and the weather was wonderful. Got to take several walks and read my book.
I went down to the Pilot on I20 and fueled up and then just parked across the street for about 45 minutes.
The qualcom says that you could only arrive 30 minutes ahead of time and no overnight parking. I called and they told me that you could arrive up to an hour early.
I also found that you can park overnight as long as you get off to the side and do not get in the way of their trucks in the Morning.
During the day while I was waiting, I got a preplan to pick up at CMC Steel in Birmingham. I would be able to go over there right after I got unloaded and get loaded and then spend the night. This load was going to Clinton NC.
On one of my walks I came back to find out that this load had been cancelled and that I now had another preplan picking up at Temple Inland in Monroeville AL going to Huntingburg IN.

So I got unloaded about midnight and spent the night there along with all the other Mav trucks. I went over and talked with A Mav dirver who was getting unloaded...his appointment was 0400.
Made my way over to Temple Inland and there was no wait at all. Got right in and loaded.
Got to Masterbrand Cabinets the next morning around 0900 and again there was no one in front of me. Got unloaded and had a preplan to go to WL Plastics in Elizabethtown Ky. Got down there and there was several trucks waiting to get loaded. Sat around for about 2 hrs and then finally got loaded with 16,000 lbs of 40' pieces of plastic pipe. going to Cheswick Pa.
I got a preplan along the way for me to pick up at Charter Steel in Cuyahoga Hts Ohio going to Hammond In. The Pick up was for 1600. You can go in there an hour early.
So I was sitting there trying to figure out how to best plan my trip.
I had stopped in Florence Ky at the rest area as I did not think I could get through Cincinnati during rush hour and make it up to the next rest area on I 71 north up by Kings Island. I did not want to wait too long in the Morning and get caught in the early rush hour traffic for Cincinnati, or around Columbus.
I pretty much figured out that I may not make it home...but if everything fell in place I could. But since I was delivering in Hammond In, I could get home Saturday, leave out Sunday late afternoon, (get my 34 in), and then drive to Gary and spend the night and make my delivery on Monday Morning. At the time I did not yet have my delivery appoint.
I got unloaded at the job site in Pa...but had made much better time than I thought I would. At this point I was going to have to sit for a couple of hours before I could get loaded. I contacted my fleet manager and asked him to check to see if I could get in there any earlier. He said he would check with the csr.
In about 10 minutes I got a message. I thought it was a change in my pick up time.
No, it was a confirmation of my delivery time for 1300 on Tuesday. This was only a 324 mile trip so I was going to loose a whole day and only have 449 miles when I delivered on Tuesday (that is with 125 dead head). I was not happy with this since I had lost a whole day this week with the late delivery on Tuesday evening.
So I called my fm and asked him why they changed it to Tuesday. He said he was not aware of it.
I then got a message from him saying that it was the only time available. I then get another message saying head to Bedford Heights. So I am really confused at this point.
So I call him up again. I asked him about Bedford. He says head that way. I then ask him...if this was a different load and he says yes because the other load did not have enough miles to justify delivering on Tuesday.
So I then get the new wo telling me to pick up at Majestic Steel at 1400 for a load going to Burgaw Nc for a monday morning delivery at 1000.
So now I need to get home today so that I can get my restart.
Got there and did not get right in as I found out is the case.
Got a load of 13 shidded coils.
I would have had enough time to make it home, but the Mav truck in front of me had a mixed bag load and it was taking him longer than me to get secured and he was blocking my exit out of the building.
So I helped him finish tarping his load and did not put any pressure on him to get out of my way...lol
There was still a chance for me to get home on time, but I ran into two accidents on 71 south that caused me to get a 14 hour violation as I mentioned earlier.
End of month...25 points....no big deal.
So I will head out tomorrow morning. Have about a 10 hr drive. If I can make the plant I will stay there, if not, I will pull up short and stay at the rest area about 30 miles from there.
This past week, I did not get to stay at one truck stop the whole week. So I did not get a shower since I left home. But with the help of lots of baby wipes, I was fresh and clean as a baby all week! lol

Well I got my truck out of the Freightliner dealer Wednesday. If Freightliner builds submarines you would never see one due to electrical problems and water leaks non-whatever surface. Did a nine stop load in southern Indiana got back Friday afternoon. Staying on central states dedicated for one more week to help them out. Then back to OTR. Have a great weekend, drive safe and enjoy the ride.

    JimTheHut Thanks this.

I had one of those trucks once. Freightliner had a lot of problems with the Columbias leaking. A design flaw in the top cap. So it was hit and miss if you got a leaker or not.
