The journey ends, as another begins. Months of training have finally come to an end. No longer am I a "trainee", Now I'm a driver. An "A" seat qualified solo driver. I recently looked back through my entire thread n... WOW! Things have changed so much from then. Before I came to Prime I had never been in a rig before, now I sit in MY truck on my first solo load. I look back at those first days and can't believe some of the things I did. It was definitly a steep learning curve. It was tough going from living completely alone, to always having someone there, I hated it. Im sure it will hit me soon that now I am alone. No one else in the truck to guide me, only the knowledge Ive gained over the past few months. I started my orientation May 17 of this year. The journey has been filled with a lot of ups n downs, but enjoyable overall. I learned, sometimes painfully, what I needed to know so I could safetly and legally operate a rig. Ive been criss crossed this country countless times already, and seen things I never wouldve imagined. Accidents, sunrises, mountains roads, prarie, desert, Ive had the opporotunity to see them all. Sometimes I wish I hadnt, some I wish to see again, but all had an affect. They all in their own way shaped how I drive and how I will run my rig. Theyve all taught me something about life, driving,.... and myself. Traveling the highways and biways will definitly affect how you see the world. A truck driver will see more in one week than most people will see in a lifetime. Most people wouldnt survive out on the road, living in a truck, being in a new place everyday. A great many people would be too scared to step out and go beyond the sunset, but not me. Not me or most reading this, we stepped away from the curb and journeyed into the unknown. My journey as a trainee has ended, but not my learning. Now I am a driver with my own truck and full responsibility for it and my load. My previous journey was an adventure, time to see what this one will turn out to be....

You aren't alone. Maybe alone inside the truck, but you have people you can call on for help.
-
Ya I know, but I dont like bothering people. It rarely works out well for me, so I figure it out on my own.
DenaliDad Thanks this. -

My first solo load... Grossing 76,000+, truck did good so far. Only had to down shift for two hills between SPRINGMO n Dallas. My boost gauge goes up further than my trainers did. Truck will work good I think. Just need to get used to its personality.
My very first solo tarp jobNot pretty, but it works. I bought 2 100 foot rolls of 3/8ths" braided rope for my tarps.
