I know that you are only a beginner but after being with them as long as you have (6 months+) your Opinion as a new driver on their payroll and being Dispatched by them matters; And the fact that you are life camm-ing your experience with them is really important to those of us that have heard horror stories about EVERY company and don't know who to choose.
Glad to hear the no idle in the summer is reasonable... I was 50% concerned over that. My other part of that is I wanted to put a mini-fridge in the truck(not one of those worthless can coolers- a dorm room 3.5cu from Frigidaire) with a microwave and use an inverter to power them and would need to idle the truck to not kill the batteries... I heard on another post that Knight has something called "Power Posts" on the back of the cab so you can hook your reefer to the cab and keep the battery charged... but I don't know if that was for the truck to jump the reefer or if i could use it for what I was thinking; Maybe you could explain a little about them; Does Knight even allow Inverters to be installed in the trucks? And about the screens- Where did you pick them up? Are they custom fit for the truck windows?

Those posts are to jump the reefer or the truck. Not all trucks have them. I wouldn't recommend a real fridge. Huge power draw and the bumps kill the compressors fast. That's what a lot of experienced drivers tell me. The 88 dollar Coleman cooler at Walmart has been great! Keeps my food around 40 degrees

I'm quitting ASAP. They stopped paying me detention and won't pay me for sitting in Fontana. They "don't have any loads to get me out of here". This Fontana yard is packed. Some old idiot in a red truck came up and yelled effin a- hole in my window. I had nowhere else to park earlier and his car was in the middle of the bobtails. I'm tired of being treated like an idiot by the shops, dispatch and other ####### knight drivers.

Hay Smaggs, take it easy and don't do anything rash. Don't let your frustration get the best of you.

neva been to Fontana, but you only get detention for waiting to get loaded or unloaded at a shipper/receiver.. and it only kicks in after your appointment time.. if you're not under a dispatch, then it'll be layover pay... never needed it so i wouldn't know much about it... may wanna talk to your DM about it.. but do what's best for ya man.

I'm trying to keep my cool. Watching movies and playing my bass. I'm still upset but the strong anger has cooled down a bit. I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere with no support system. It's bad when another knight driver starts screaming at you for no real reason. He can eat a dognut sammich.

On a lighter note, the Fontana yard did my service and fixed an air line fitting in under an hour. Naturally, I've been here two days with no preplan out. I'll never see a good check or bonus at the rate I'm going.
Things were so much better when I was in the squire division. -
remember what i said about it being partly your Driver Manager, and then partly the terminal you're out of. Hopefully your DM isn't a jug of garbage truck juice, and things are just a little screwy right now..
but so much for the driver, dont pay that any mind.. that's just a human being. some people are quick to yell for no reason without even assessing the situation. people are always in a hurry, distracted, or in a bad mood for no reason, and if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time they'll let you know about it in a bad way..
i was waiting in line at Georgia Pacific to get into the inspection station a few months back.. the line stretch across an intersection so instead of me blocking it, i sat across from it with my tailgates open just waiting.. another driver pulls up and sits behind me for about ten mins and then walks up to the front of my truck and looks over at the inspection docks and notices three open holes, he turns at me and asks me what's my problem, me not knowing what he's talkin about tells him i'm having a problem getting to this pig (i was playing angry birds on my phone) he starts going off about how i'm a kid, diss and that, blah blah blah.. i tell him if he wants he can jump in front of me, cause i was in no hurry.. he tells me something about my mom and walks off, hops in his truck and catches about four gears going around me.. he completely ignore the six other trucks in front of me.. just as he starts to back into one of the inspection docks the driver that was next in line walks up to his window and rips him one, they have words until the shipper/receiver comes up and tells him to move and get back in line, and points to a spot behind three trucks that just pulled up behind me.. i just started laughing, he was pretty upset but i didn't care, because in the end.................. i'll most likely never see him again, which is why i love being a truck driver.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
