I used to work for Millis, they are not a bottom feeder by any stretch of the imagination. Good pay, good equipment and the only company I have ever seen that knows how to run a short haul operation properly.

I don't know why you were treated rudely and you might want to file a complaint with a higher up. I wouldn't waste you time with a lawyer because you have no basis for one. They can hire trainees over experienced drivers if they want. Besides that you might find yourself in trouble if you waltz into a court with you recording of the calls. Most states have laws prohibiting that.

Millis' own statistics show that drivers they train are better drivers. They are not a CDL mill and they actually train their drivers. I know, I went to their school ten years ago. I see their point. I am amazed at how few drivers even know how to properly drop a trailer.

If a thread is in danger of degenerating into personal attacks, any posts that are participating in the problem can be deleted. I'm looking at the forum stats and I see ~100 posts deleted over the past month out of over 50,000 new posts that were added.

If you need more info, feel free to PM me. No sense derailing this thread.

Well I can only add this. Earlier this year before changing companies, I did a lot of research and called a lot of companies (35). I also took a lot of notes that I still have. My notes on Millis other than cpm, freight and other basics are as follows ------ " didn't know much about benefits/rude/seemed anxious to get off the phone"....... So I too thought they weren't very interested in experienced drivers.
However, they weren't the only ones who were rude. I know part of that was caused by me because I had alot more questions than how much do you pay and how many miles do I get.

That's about the impression I got from them too...I called them a couple times but was never got serious enough to apply. Like you said phone conversation seemed very rushed and she didn't seem to know too much about benefits and was anxious to get off the phone.

Then she found out I lived in MN and tried to tell me they weren't hiring, yet I lived only 1 hr from Black River Falls. Finally I got it out of her that I could work there but just couldnt take the truck home on a reguular basis...after a few more questions seemed like she really started to get rushed, agitated and huffy...Seems like if you know too much a lot of these companies don't want to give you the time of day.

After they had that bad wreck in NY among a couple others and went to elogs I pretty much threw the idea of working for them into the toilet. These newbs who shout and praise a lot of these medium, big or mega companies have no idea of how good things used to be. in this day and age it seems like 2800-3000 miles is a "good big money week", but only a few years ago that was the bare minimum for most outfits, it was expected and mandatory...

You know it just amazes me at just how plain lazy a large percentage of the American population is! I mean people get all bent out a shape when you make them do their jobs (ie..answering the phone, answering questions, handing driver the bills that are withing your grasp and window is a couple feet away even though your on break...so on and so forth).
It seems that people have got so lazy everywhere and have been allowed to get away with it for so long that when it comes time to actually do something and get off their fat bottoms they have these ridiculous temper tantrums like your trying to make them do so much that it might just ruin their whole day. I know im rambling but thats the impression I get from these last 2 posts and from things I see and hear everyday.

I have known drivers for Millis (in the past) that kept two log books. The company knew this but opted to look the other way. I believe the NY accident driver had dual logs in his rig too - hence the FMCSA now requesting EOBRs.

Millis, once upon a time was indeed a classy operation....Now, there just isn't anything special about them. All of the noobs will sing praises until they make one teeny mistake and the company tosses them out like yesterday's trash. Just wait for it. I have seen and heard it happen...
    Suddenly, Millis isn't so wonderful.

A company should value it's employees and not look for the slightest way to toss them out the door. :biggrin_25513:

Wait, this is trucking. There is NO respect to the driver nowadays..

Like a jilted lover "how dare you not want me". The guy obviously didn't meet the hiring criteria and can't move on.

Right, he's not a rookie and won't work for peanuts. Who wants to mess with beer loads all the time anyways? Not me... It's right down there with "dollar general dedicated" sucks big time.

That's all FMCSA can do is REQUEST EOBR'S . The courts agreed with OOIDA that EOBR's are a form of harassment an an invasion of privacy . They can't be mandated .
