I am considering obtaining my CDL and would like feedback on the following schools:
Superior Drivers Institute - Columbia, TN (Tuition: $5,000)
Truck Drivers Institute - Murfreesboro, TN (Tuition: $5,950)
Tennessee Technology Center of Nashville - Nashville, TN (Tuition: $1,388.50)
I would be paying my own tuition (not financing through the school or relying on company paid training) so I'm not sure if that would make a difference in which school would be best for me. I also notice that TTC is PTDI certified, while the other two are not. But then I wonder why TTC is so much cheaper.
And maybe there are other schools I am unaware of.
I would appreciate any feedback! Thank you!
Can anyone recommend a good trucking school in Middle Tennessee?

TTC would be cheaper because it gets some support from the state. Don't know if the certification makes it better but it can't hurt.

It looks like TTC is a state run school, so your tax dollars are paying part of the overhead. It appears the other two schools are private for-profit schools.
As far as the PTDI certification, the school I attended did not have it, so they played it down. But I heard from others (so take it for what it's worth) that many companies think so much of the PTDI certification that they considered a new graduate from a PTDI school to be on par with someone with one year of on the road experience.
Good luck with your new career! -
I do see that the TTC program is longer (8 weeks) than the others, which I think are both 3 weeks.
