are you sure thats in texas???? I find that hard to believe that a fracing job or most oil field jobs starts out people at 20-25 an hour. I call BS but please prove me wrong
Ummm, your wireline description is a bit off. You earn your money mainly because of the hours. You get to a job and set up for 30 minutes to an hour and then sit on your ### mainly and play the waiting game. Ok, during the waiting game, you and your partner may have to grab a couple pipe wrenches and twist apart your gun and then your hoist does most of the work from there. I mean, the hardest part of that job is breaking your fitting loose from a well head, other than that, its very mild casual labor. Also, the engineer position is what you want to shoot for but he's out in the hot sun running his crew and job and yes lots of air conditioning time just like his worms can have too. Ive worked with a few crews, ive talked to them extstensively, ive investigated it thourgholy and talked to ex wirline guys and every thing checks out......its a soft job and its only the hours that make it tough. One thing i know about these jobs and hard physical labor, you couldnt do it on a consistent basis for long hours if it was extremely physically hard. Believe me, i wouldnt consider doing wirelining unless i knew i could handle it. I'm not 25 anymore, i'm 44 and i know i dont want to break my ### for a living anymore......or at least not day in and out i should say.
Youre absolutely right about the upside and becoming an engineer, thats why wirelining offers something different to particular individuals than what fracing has to offer. Wirelining is a great gig. You do alot of driving too.
Once again, its one of those things that when you get on the clock, just submit your life to it and forget the outside world. Just go for the ride and love the oilfield. I'm not sure if i can speak for everyone because i'm still a newb but i believe the people that last out here are the ones who love the oil field slightly more than the money.
Great jobs in Texas

70 is max right? And thanks yeah though I was but that was for another position I applied with them for.
Making the right choices early in life led to No problems with Back Ground Checks and Piss Test so I don't even worry when they talk about that stuff. Even in what people would consider the Ghetto in a small town of IL
Possible to pull +30 OT in a week there? -
Alan Ritchey, Inc-anyone ever hear anything about them in the midland/odessa area?
they had an add on craigslist.

One of my friends owns a Slicklines company and I have spent countless hours on site refueling both wireline crews and Frac crews. Wireline crews do get down time but it's a minimum compared to Frac crews. As for pay, I got a friend working for Allied Wireline Services and those guys work on Salary. I did however forgot to mention they get a stage bonus. Frac crew supervisors also get a 50.00 a stage bonus[/QUOTE] -
Seriously, yes you will see an engineer out but he's generally new and making sure stuff is done right, or he helping his crew out of a jam.Last edited: Nov 4, 2011

yeah thats cool, ive been around a few frac jobs and ive always heard the 16-17 dollar an hour range. Perhaps they pay 20 because they limit their hours? The frac crews i know of, part of their job responsibility is monitoring the flow back after the frac equipment is gone. These guys spend days out on a location bored out of their minds and racking in the hours.
