So I was talking to one of the senior drivers this morning and he said there was CRST truck( which is pulling alot of Conway's freight) was saying there were 3 guys in the truck and that the truck never stops except for fuel. Now seriously how is it possible to cram three males in a space barely big enough for one. But the bigger question is why do people allow themselves to be subjected to that kinda garbage for substandard wages to say the least. Well more power to CRST and any company that can get away with that.
I may be biased but I would rather stay at my local gig and work one day a week at the bottom of the board rather than ever consider OTR.

    Thoughts?

Team driving isnt for everyone and neither is OTR. I have done teaming (not with 3 ppl) and its definitely tough to sleep when someone else is driving. OTR is good for ppl like me. I have my wife with so no need to go home all the time. I like seeing and going to different parts of the country but like I said not for everyone.

I am pretty sure what he was talking about is the 20/10 program CRST runs. This means 3 drivers work as a team. 2 in the truck and one on home time. Every 10 days they are routed back to their home area and switch out. So basically you as an indivdiual go out 20 days at a time and get 10 days off. This program is beneficial to the company because that tractor never sits for hometime, thus the wheels are always turning making the company money

Correct, 2 on the truck, one at home, rotating. But I've heard CR Englang training 2 at a time.

FatDaddy's explanation sounds like the reality that was poorly described by the orignal story. I think Schneider or JB Hunt had 3 drivers sharing 2 trucks where each driver got extended home time and moved between the 2 trucks.

There are good HOS reasons why there is no benefit to putting 3 team drivers in a truck at the same time. Driver A can drive 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty or sleeper time. Driver B can sleep 10 hours, wake up, and start driving when Driver A is out of driving time. Driver C, what's he do? He either has to burn On-Duty Not Driving time sitting in the passenger seat, while Driver B is sleeping, or he has to sleep at same time as Driver B. When Driver B starts driving, Driver C can't drive and can't drive if he spends Driver B's driving time sitting in pax seat. HOS Guidance indicates the time a driver spends riding in the pax seat in ODND, which is wasting his 14 hour clock.

When you hear something strange OTR, assume the teller is wrong. It's the most reliable pattern in trucking. Most drivers never read the regs, are on their way to being deaf, hear only part of a conversation, and frequently screw up the re-telling of the story. It;s like the children's game called "Telephone". Pne kid tells the next kid something. Kid 2 tells kid 3, on and on. In about 3-4 kids the story "the dog barks at cars" changes into "firetrucks park on the moon."

What if the truck has two bunks? Like training trucks.. Then you have two beds so driver B/C can be sleeping at the same time.. I don't know just a thought.
