I agree, a buddy of mine ran into a couple of other bull hauling buddies one day at a truck stop, and after all the small talk said lets go east," can't go DOT is checking in the rest area", so? "I ain't got no license" said Pete, why don't you let Charlie drive? "He ain't got none either".

Go ahead and deliver. I wouldn't of told dispatch. You risk getting grounded now.

I would of used a little white lie like your wife is in the hospital and they would of routed you there asap.

I'm sure your employer has a photocopy of your license.Have them fax it to you.
It would probably get you out of a jam if the DOT checked you.
Better than no proof at all and it has your picture on it.
Just be honest about it and tell them you are on the way to get it straightened out.

Yea, they have a copy of my license..I'll just have to wait till morning to see what they want to do. Im 240 miles from the house, I just hope I dont have to have my wife come get me...but it could be worse..lol..like 1000 miles from home..and couldnt even buy a plane ticket.
ive got a TWIC card, which is a photo ID..and I know all of the info on my CDL..It just may be hard to get reloaded cause alot more shippers are wanting to make a copy of my license too.

    That's a good idea. I didn't think of that. That'll work.

EZ Money is smarter than he looks! :) If we seen ya!

You're dispatcher is there to help you. So it shouldn't be too difficult of an ordeal.

I always take my wallet out of my pocket and keep it in my eyesight in the same place while in the truck, just for times like this.

Not that it's important at this point, but how did you lose your license? Do you carry it separately from your wallet? Just curious. The photocopy (which I carry several copies of my license with me) and your TWIC card should be enough to get you out of any trouble I would think. Best of luck.

no, i dont keep my CDL in my wallet...cant drive with that humongus thing in the cheek(no ######## comments please), anyway, when I first started driving OTR, I got robbed in detroit, first thing they want is the wallet..so I learned not to keep anything i need in the wallet...wallet just has reward, point cards..and other petty stuff.
Anyway...last night I accidentaly stepped on my plastic ruler and broke it..so this morning I used my license, (which was the first thing I grabbed) as a straight edge..apparently, at some point it fell out of the log book and I think into a trash bag that I was preparing to throw out.
I have torn the inside of this truck apart, put it back together and apart again..and back together again...oh, I lost everything in Detroit except my license cause I had em in my pocket to use for ID to get loaded. Its just been one of those weeks....then didnt get home this weekend..so the saga just continues..lol
