Yes, once you have it configured it really is just a matter of hitting the find button actually. If that isn't working then your initial setup procedure isn't right. They lay it out step by step in the book. For HD, it will need to be programmed for 3 different satellites and then it will automatically switch position as needed when you change channels. If you are still having trouble, then I would call the dealer that you bought it from and have them walk you through the setup the first time and then you'll be good-to-go.

I've been thinkin too of buying VQube but after reading the reviews here I'm skeptic. Even tho I've seen on their website that they claim the customer will be able to watch TV in minutes is hard to understand how a V10 or V20 so over 1000$ piece of equipment can have such bad reviews.
So from what I understand here is that I will pay 1200$ for a V20 and I will still have to buy a compas and start playin boyscout around the truck to make the gadget work ?
I really cannot believe. Is there any driver here that own a V10 or V20 that is working EVERYTIME flawless ? Or is just about being lucky ? Is quite weird that once aquired the correct position the remote dont have memory button and next stop just click on the button and make the antena turn by itself to the correct position.
If someone check the presentations on utube is lookin so simple and fun.
    What is the truth tho?

I too have a vqube and very disappointed with dish service and locating satalittes.
I've heard that camping world has a winnguard that does such a better job.

    Ok. Let's try this again.

    1. Model V10 (approx $549) - has up/down and left/right buttons on a remote control. You use those buttons to find the signal of the satellite service that you have (i.e. DirectTV, Dish Network, Bell ExpressVue, FreeToAir, etc) when you are stopped. It has 4 satellite "store" buttons in case you are using a service like Dish-500 which has some channels on the 110 and others on the 119. You can store the positions of each and then it automatically switched between them as needed when you change channels.

    * So to POINT a V10, you have to know where you are in the country and basically where Texas is in relation to how your truck is sitting. Dish and Direct will let you enter the zip code and then it will tell you the elevation and the azimuth of their satellites from where you are. The concept that I find to be the key is understanding that when the little line on the circular clock-face of the remote control is pointed straight up (i.e. 12 o'clock) then the dish is pointing directly over where the coax cable comes out of the Qube on the back of your truck. There is an excellent free app for smart-phones called "SuperCompass" that makes knowing where to point very easy.

    2. V20 (approx $890) - there is NO "up/down, left-right" option on the remote control. You press the "find" button and it searches the sky for the provider satellites that you have told it you subscribe to when you initially set it up. Once it finds the satellite (or satellites depending on who you chose as your service) you're done. No compass needed. No knowledge of where you are at is needed.

    3. V30 (approx $1199) - same as the V20, but it will also STAY on the satellites as you are moving. No compass needed. No knowledge of where you are at is needed. It DOES remember where they are as long as it is powered on. I wouldn't leave it powered on for 11 hours of driving per day, every day though unless maybe you had a partner in the truck that was watching while you are driving.

IN ALL cases you need a "line of sight" to the satellite. If there is a building or other obstruction then they can't "see" the satellites.

If you MOVE your truck there is no way for a V10 or a V20 to know how you parked, so naturally you will have to re-acquire the signal when you are stopped again.

    * A note on "flawless." The V20 and V30 are currently undergoing a design review and are not available until that work is completed, because although the innards hold up reasonably on RV's and newer air-ride semi rigs, they can get rattled to death on some trucks, especially on the rougher roads in the country. So they are doing the right thing and reviewing the most likely failure item (the horizontal motor in my experience) to make it more "truck-proof." It is a very painful experience to have to return one for warranty on both the VuQube company and the driver.

So, since I have installed, used, and beaten this device do death on hundreds of trucks over the years, just ask and I will answer. I have not tested any other mobile satellite devices so I can't speak to them. I have a WineGuard "over-the-air" setup that I am happy with, but I don't know how robust their satellite antenna is.

Great and very simple to understand answer sir. I'll wait untill they are done with the improvements and then I'll buy a V20 (coz I am quite lazy to search for position myself).
One important question : what is the temperature range where the lets say V20 will work without troubles ? I'm curious if at -30 Celsius the motors inside will work and rotate the antena with no issues. I dont know what that is in Fahrenheit but -30 Celsius is flippin cold. Hint: I am from Canada.
Thank u kindly for answer and please keep us apdate about the progress with Vqube.

I have not seen where King Controls has ever put out an exact specification on them (which doesn't mean that there isn't one.) But I have them on rigs in Canada and on many that run across Minnesota, North Dakota, etc all winter as well. In general the results have been that they all hold up under those conditions. I did have one freeze in North Dakota but it happened because moisture got in during a truck wash from spraying directly up at it from below and some water got through some hole in the seal. There is a rubber seal that goes around where the top bolts down. If moisture were to get in there, or if you don't put the dielectric grease that comes with it into the coax hole, you would surely risk lockups though. Also I would winterize it with some kind of dish wax or conditioner (like Dome Magic or equivalent) or use de-icer on it when needed. If it gets a buildup of ice, dirt, mud, etc on the outside of the dome then you can have diminished signal too.

You say "I have cable at home." The tailgater is just a VuQube with a handle and 4 rubber feet. It is the same thing, but made to be carried around. So you need "satellite" at home, verses cable. Then, yes, it will work.
