There are also combi and eco combi container trailers , these are trailers that can be split in half to deliver 2 20' containers independently or 1 40/45' container or in the case of the eco combi 3 20' containers or 1 20' container and a 40/45' container

There is also livestock combi trailers that can be used for dry freight as well as livestock, they can be sealed up completely watertight , the decks a lifted right to the ceiling and the whole rear of the trailer can be hydraulically swung open so it can be placed on a loading dock, some trailers also have side loading where large sections of the sides can be opened for loading

EU trailers are now all with EBS and disk brakes. In the USA EBS is the option and really rare option. Newer EBS units, including the last EBS-D, all the EBS-E by Wabco and TEBS-2 by Knorr/Bendix got RSS - roll stablity system. ECAS is very rare thing on EU trailer now.
The last Wabco TEBS-E unit is not made in US and EU versions, it may easily be programmed for 12V and 24V voltage supply, so I can easily use it with US trailers and trucktors. It is really good.
Axes... BPW, SAF(Holland) and Meritor (ROR) are with disk brakes. Drum brakes are available too.
Lenth of EU trailer is usually 45', but shorter (40') and longer 48'-55' are used, but generally EU trailers are 45'.
Weight distribution differs too. ~10 500 per fifth wheel. three axels with single 385/80R22.5 tires. Lift axels are popular.
Air systems of EU and US trailers are compatible. Kingpins too. So you can easily use US trailer with EU truck and EU trailer with US trucktor. The only problem - change bulbs and use voltage converters for ABS/EBS systems.
One good thing of US trailers - axe slider, but this thing is for good roads. If I have to haul from EU to Russia I run over bad rought roads and slider goes bad!!!!
Tailamps of EU trailer are with yellow direction lamps, US trailers dir. lamps are red. really..... I cant concider it problem!
If we use US made trailers on European roads we have to add side guard that prevents car under trailer accident, and IMO it saved many lives.

Really, in ex-USSR we prefere US trucktors, but European trailers. The only advantage to use US refers, they are longer (48-57').
I did Utility trailer to EBS after to Disk brakes conversion (SAF axes with disk brakes).Really good van. -

and what is reason for US 6x4 , they are too expensive, more tires , this limits you to go in europe
less payload higher fuel consumption (i dont know price of fuel there) -
really, US trucks are much cheapper here. and more durable. More tires ---- yes, but tires life is longer.
we can haul legally up to 24 ton, it depends on trailer weight.
US trucks are generally used for hauling to Russia, they are better for bad roads, and may easily be fixed in distant workshops (if it is not Volvo)
about fuel milage and payload..... really US trucktor weight is the same and fuel milage is the same, but US truck burns less european one at faster 50 mph (of cource it is not about classical trucks)jardel Thanks this. -

i am not sure can 8 tires last more than 4 there is lot of wear during steering
lets say that trailer is normal weight of 6.5 ton
i understand that they can be fixed everywhere but how they can be better for bad roads since all of them are weight optimised with some very radical solutions
