I do not know what you haul but in my experience running flats i have know problem getting direct shippers. I run as many as 5 trucks at a time to as few as 2 and have never had an issue getting direct freight. Most of the shippers i use do not want to deal with the big companys or brokers because half the time the load never gets picked up or it is late and a number of other excuses. My best advise is to just call, you will never know and will be surprised at the ones that will say yes. Thats how i got most of my direct shippers. You will most likely not get a lot of freight at first untill you prove your self. My loads are not done under contract there done by the load basis. The van side might be totaly diffrent.

Ryder, Menlo, Exel, and on and on. They literally replace a company's shipping department. Some provide warehousing as well. The degree in which they are integrated varies from one company to the next. Technically, your slim shady broker with a computer, fax, and phone can call himself a 3pl, but really they're just a broker.

Hmmmm....How many "hands" actually touch a load?

Most military loads go through at least three "brokers" before they get to the carrier....

I had a load this week that was through CRE but was originally through LS via JB Hunt....I made over $2.50/M....So what do I care?.....
