It's that stuff they add to the oil. It makes a smell that affects a man's sense of, well, his SENSE. Makes you want to do stuff like drive heavy trucks long distances and not sit in anything covered with cloth. Or live in walls that don't move or have mirrors attached to them.

It was Mack's plan all along to remove men from living rooms! :biggrin_25511:

If you are married to an awesome woman keep her happy and stay home...get a local job or stay where you are at....

Just like being a professional pilot, being away from home for long periods of time as a truck driver WILL change your marriage and relationships, no matter how glamorous the commercials make it seem. Better make the right choice for you and your family.

You couldn't pay me enough to be away from my wife and daughter (and another on the way!)

FedEx Ground, all I/C drivers. I drive for one that does Plattsburgh, Syracuse, and Albany. Home every day, and every weekend. Heard Syracuse was needing help about 2 weeks ago.

Is it possible to get that kind of job fresh out of trucking school? What about the pay?

Not usually. Most ltl carriers will require 3 years of otr experience, a clean mvr and no accidents.

Other ways to get your foot in the door of an ltl carrier is to get a dock position and express your interest in driving to the supervisors. If they need a new driver they may agree to train you in house or even pay for the school on your behalf. Of course this route may take a year or more of hard work on your part and proving yourself to the bosses but it is worth it in the long run.

    Boonie Thanks this.
