You've already been told what to do. You are not a commercial carrier and I can almost guarantee you will regret the experience if you use the commercial lanes.

The signs over the bridge and at the customs booth say TRUCKS , CARS & RV'S and FAST . There is no designation for commercial or noncommerical . I have been crossing the border regularly for 4 years and have never seen a bobtail in the car lanes .

Fair enough. All the crossings I have used (in the west) do have commercial lanes. Although I am wondering if the "TRUCKS" lane is meant solely for commercial? If it were me, I would use the RV lane.

Bottom line it's at the discretion of who is working at Customs at the time . At Port Huron there are people at the bottom of the bridge directing people which lane to take . Going over the bridge from Canada the left lane is for trucks , center for FAST , and right for cars . Depending on the volume of the different types of traffic truck lanes may be opened for cars or car lanes opened for trucks .
I'd suspect bobtailing over the bridge in the right lane would cause all kinds of unwanted attention . I sure wouldn't have the CB on .

Regardless of the lane, the $10.75 fee should not be payable as that is for commercial vehicles.

If it's in a person's name and it pulls a camper would it still be deemed a commercial vehicle in your estimation?

    No, that's a private RV.

It depends on how it's registered . There are plenty of people that pull campers with commercial vehicles .
