In programming, you can test stuff on a small sample size, but if you assume that small sample is what you are gonna face when you open the flood gates, you are way off base.

Gaming industry is learning this. Hence their alpha tests are employees/friends/family. The last 2 big releases (Trion's Rift, March 2011) and Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic (Dec 2011) beta phases were/are incremental with a HUGE stress test at the end in preparation for launch. In Trion's case, launch went fairly smoothly with a few hiccups. Bioware is going for a step by step launch to reduce the load on the servers.

Things that work in Beta can, and have, gone up in flames when they go live. It happens. But in THIS case, in MY opinion, they need to scrub the current programming, go back to the drawing board, and follow Trion and Bioware's example and do a graduated Beta and launch. That's my 2 nickels.

I would verify weight first. If I was in the NorthEast, picking up at BeautyRest, going to Florida, I would most likely accept the load. Or a can manufacturer going anywhere, plastic bottles...that kind of stuff, you can figure it's a typo.

If it's soup cans, unless they're crushed, haul it. No way you'll be over.
