Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Great point and one that is sadly missed by so many on here, new drivers ones that have been driving less than 5 years (like yourself) were not in the mix of data they used to come up with CSA 2010 and eventually ELOGS,,,We all start out somewhere and are Noobs.NEWBs,FNG's or my fav,"New Seat Warmer" and actually have a zero CSA so they actually lead to a downturn in the overall score a Company can have,,,Like you said in a the last prior post ,its not really about new drivers,,, its about bad habits of every driver and thus has lead it to now

Statistically new drivers tend to be "Uber-Safe" and thus most of the % of their accidents are in low mph situations(like backing into things and or turns)

Drivers with more than 2 years statistically have accidents at a higher frequency between accidents and at higher speeds due to overconfidence

Usually at the 5 year mark this trend seems to flatten out and drivers tend to become more safe as they have numerous experiances to learn from.

How about this, They mandate that every truck has a device in it that is hooked to the trucks computer along with GPS etc and that the system is smart enough to even know the speedlimits of the road the truck is on including all construction zones etc. The Device will automatically limit the trucks speed to no more then the posted speed limit at any given time. If the truck enters a construction sone then the truck will automatically slow down to 25,35 or 45 mph. When the truck enters a town then it won't beable to go over 25 or what ever that towns limit is.

I bet that will make all the Elog cheerleaders happy!

Or do you elog cheerleaders like to push the speed limits ie 5 or more above the posted limit?

The last stats on accident/exp level I saw stated that the highest "risk" group for first incident was at the 8-14 month experience level. As you stated, these are generally "low speed-minor incidents".

16-24 months generated the highest level of severe accidents and $$$ incidents.

And 2.5 - 4.8 years was when the highest "expected" major injury/fatality crashes came into the picture.

The study was mainly looking at the "newer/lesser experienced" driver, and focused on long haul operations. I did not take a lot of notice on the local/LTL percentages as they weren't in the groups I was digging into.

You like to stir the proverbial dung pile don't you!

Exactly what does this "scenario" of yours have to do with the discussion at hand?

I can tell you...NOTHING...but trying to cause more friction in a controversial subject.

Oh....you forgot to mention that Obambam and his Highway Revitalization Project will be funding the electric slotted tracks for all CMV's to be fitted into and the control towers will be in strategic military control.

Nah cost prohibitive. But I would support mandatory 1 year suspensions of privilege's for anyone convicted of speeding, and a general law mandating that if charged the driver must be found guilty or not guilty in trial no more pleading to a seat belt for those incapable of reading comprehension.

3 years for second conviction. Lifetime for third.

Just MY opinion. Seems like certain drivers for E-LOGS AND EOBR'S are not for the Trucking industry as much as they think. Seems like they are more for themselves so they can "work" that 11 hours and stop whether they are 5 minutes from delivery or not. Probably the ones I see playing the video games at the ts. Don't know forsure but just my opinion.

You'll have to point out where I said four wheelers should be free to kill truck drivers, and I would love to see your "fact's" that seventy percent of the time some idjit commits suicide in a big truck it is in fact a four wheelers fault.

I agree some rwal training standards should be enacted. Ware though your coming dangerously close to asking for some regulation of the industry though. And we all know how opposed you are to them.

I am against the un-needed regs(E-LOGS AND EOBR) the rest I am good with. I enjoy my privacy when it comes to MY TRUCK. As for e-logs I have two hands and do just fine. Until it is proven that I can not do MY Job in a safe manner then e-logs can go to ****.

Do you like 15 dollar a gal milk or a 10 dollar loaf od bread? The rates go up when we pass along the cost to the customer who in turn does the same thing. How much do you like paying so we know how much more we can charge? Doesnt make a lot of sense to keep this stupid cycle of everybody pays more does it? Where does it stop? I would also like to know why we paid for the mexican truck eobr's, cant they afford the cost of running a business too?
