So much for those E-LOGS and EOBR'S making the roadways safer. This morning I-74 mm46 east bound side East of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Conway driver pulling Doubles laid it over off the southside of the interstate. Tractor and first pup on leftsides and back pup flipped over on its right side. Not raining or foggy. He just went off the edge of the road. This was in daylight around 8:00 AM. Just wondering where the safety comes into play????

The complaint is that the elog is not realistic. When the truck stop is full and you have to go to the next rest area to take your 10 hr. I don't sleep for 10 hours, but maybe 7. Now I have to sit for 3 hrs. until I can go to the next place down the road to get some breakfast or coffee. Sorry I ain't a robot!
I'm less than an hour from the house and now I have to stop for 10 hours because I will be in violation after being 3 weeks out on the road? Sorry, I'm heading to the house!
Your dispatcher now dispatches you according to when the computer says your break or reset is done. Your now considered a machine instead of a driver.
Get my drift???NermylXT, rollin coal, Injun and 3 others Thank this. -
During the Carter recession, people did what they had to do in order to pay their bills. Yes, some of them entered truck driving as a result of economics. Since the farm was lost or the mill shut down, they had nothing else to go back to. So they remain in a job they detest until they retire.
Quality of equipment has nothing to do with it.
Have you ever crawled around on your hands and knees in the dark, the only light you can see is the fire that wants to kill you with 80 pounds of gear on your back? We still do that by hand.mtnMoma and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
You do have to use the gray matter between your ears once in a while and think your way thru a problem with E logs. They are not as restrictive and hand tying as some perceive them to be. This coming December, I will have 1 full year on E logs and am doing just fine revenue wise as when on paper. Just have to do a little more planning and communicating with people to work around any restrictions that pop up. Instead of making you more like a machine to dispatch, you actually have to become a thinking driver and not a steering wheel holder. Some people just don't have that in them. Oh, you don't have to stop anywhere for 10 hr break all the time.... remember, think! There is a provision called the split. 8 and 2 in the regs. Use it to your advantage when you can. I will use that one today to work around a schedule/break problem.Last edited: Nov 17, 2011

You try explaining to Mr DOT man dropping your trailer 145 miles from home and bobtailing over your 11/14 when you get caught. Lol, see you in court Mr "compliant". And try pulling that stunt with a high value load... That's right, you don't care you drive for someone else right?volvodriver01 and Cowmobile Thank this.
