What do they do about if if you have a bad instructor? Are they going to send someone to get you or what?

I think im going to check out Roadmaster driving school and then apply with companies that hire new drivers. It's a little more costly but you get more class time and training time.

How easy was it to learn shifting? That's my biggest concern that it will be hard for me to learn to double clutch etc...

unless Central just likes to waste time, I don't think they would make someone go thru a CDL course if they already have it?... Roadmaster is just to get your CDL, all of the carriers when you join them make you do their training (OTR), except for one that told me they didn't have driver training with an instructor. Think jgek90 is just talking about going to roadmaster for their CDL. Most of the other posts you run across advise NOT getting your CDL with a company if you can get it yourself.

Central doesn't like to hire drivers with CDLs anymore, they will make you go through their school. They want brand new people to train their way, and to ensure they get the federal grant money. If you have a CDL, or are considering getting one and then talking to Central, call their recruiting department and talk to them about it.

If you can afford to get your own CDL, I advise it. It cuts out some options (like Central) because you'll already have it, but it's different going to an independent school than one at a company. And, if you're trained outside a company and quit, they can't come after you for schooling, so you're not tied down.

I got off the trainers truck and flew home the same day. I have thirty days to go back and get a different trainers truck. I might do that but not sure if long haul is for me. Hopefully i can find a local driving job but its hard to find with no experience. Who knows i just might have to go back to central

I got offered a job by central two weeks ago, and i have my class A CDL, they were gonna send me to Utah for 2 weeks then out with a trainer, so apparently they still do hire people with CDL's

they do hire people with their cdl's already. Some guys in my class had the license and were told they didnt have to do training and then it turned out they had too anyways cause central didnt recognize the school they went to as accredited
