George sounds like good advice. It may take me awhile to afford all that stuff though.

craigslist cb 50-75 bucks will get you a nice one
    flash light buy new 20-40
sleeping bag..go check good will. you will find an almost new one for 10 bucks. wash it and its yours. don't get grossed out. ever stay in a hotel? what do you think they do? wash sheets and re use.
you should already have clothes and towels and flip flops etc LOL
tools can wait and so fridge. get a coolr for now.
    you don't need that much.

I have a bout 1500 worth of stuff in my truck if you were to itemize it.
a lot of that is tools, tool box, electrical repair kit (fuses, wires, tester, amp reader, etc) rubber air hose from home depot not truck stop junk (mine is 5 years old and still like new). cb, sirus, police scanner, sleeping bag, extra oil, water, anti freeze, cargo locks, extra air lines (been there don't that LOL I broke on in MT during a -20 blizzard in an intersection). It tangled up and as I took the corner I heard it pop. Had to drag trailer to parking lot and pull out my torch and wrenches and get to work. Also have spare light bulbs, emergency first aid kit with everything in there to treat major cuts or bleeding.....i can't even think of what else I got floating around in boxs in that truck. All I know is it took me 4 hours to switch trucks on day when I got assigned a new on LOL
they laugh at me at work and say I am a pack rat. But I never broke down and wasn't able to help my self or others. I never go cold and never get dirty or at least stay dirty for long. Also carry medicine with me. Stuff like pepto bisom, cold stuff, etc....you will get the shts one day LOL it happens. Be prepared. :)

Good luck and welcome back to the industry.
Keep your cdl and your nose clean, obey traffic laws, take showers, get hair cuts, keep clean clothes on had and you will be ahead of the game already. Your cdl should be worth 50-60k a year with the right otr company.

Also keep away from negative people. Negativity is like cancer!
