    Hmmmmmm, never heard that term used before, "open deck trailer's", Is it so hard to say "FLATBED" ? Anyway's, my answer to the OP's question, "HELL NO" !!!! When Im loading at a facility and I see another driver(usually a rookie) securing a load unsafely, I will go up to him and "advise" him how it should be done. It's up to him if he follow's through or not.

    Not all open decks are flatbeds, there's drop decks, step decks, double drops...

    I find it interesting the intense hostility from some posters on an innocent thought. It's not like I have the power to put the wheels into motion on an idea like that.

    New york has a coil endorsement, that is actually load securement endorsement, if every state followed them there would be a lot less load issues, the test for it is pretty extensive. It only cost 10 bucks and you only need it if your a NYS cdl holder hauling coils in NY

    You have to have an endorsement to haul chemicals in an enclosed trailer but anybody can strap down a tote with that same chemical on a flatbed and haul it as long as they have a hazmat endorsement whether they've had flatbed training or not. I think it would be a good idea to have to take a written test and go through some hands-on training to obtain a flatbed endorsement.

    More test and money out of my pocket because companys hire people with no experience and then refuse to train them on the job there doing. Just because you pass a test does not mean you know what your doing or going to do it in the real world. Again a test or an indorsment will not control stupid or lazy people.
