If someone were to buy a 10 meter export and only use it no 10 meters, and as long as they had the ticket to operate it only in the allocated bad, that wouldn't or shouldn't put the license holder at risk of revocation of said license would it?
Most of you probably know I became a ham in July holding a technicians license. Skip has been real hot on 10 meters lately and I've been wanting to join in, but most of the true 10 meter ham rigs are out of my price range...so I told the wife to buy me a Magnum 257 HP for Christmas. If you don't know what it is, look it up, but it's basically a reinvention of the Radioshack HTX-10 which was a 10 meter only mobile rig.
I figure, as long as I don't go opening the Magnum 257 and modifying it from how it came from the factory (which is for 10 meter use only), if Uncle Charlie wants to drop by for a visit, I should be ok.....right? -
It is also not illegal to mod on to cover CB ......
It is ILLEGAL to use it on CB
If your a HAM it is a LEGAL radio.... I own BOTH a 257 and a HTX-10 .... -
First I did not say that they are LEGAL radios. Because they are not. But the FCC says that any radio with a channel selector is a CB radio and NOT a Amateur radio. Even if it is an ILLEGAL radio. Better know as an Export radio. This was stated by Reily Holingworth. So I don't think what I said is incorrect at all. Maybe you need to go read the rules. The FCC does not allow any CB that has more that 4 watts AM/12PEP SSB. Or that goes below 26.965, or above 27.405. But they still call it a CB radio and not a 10 meter radio. Also ALL GALAXY radios are Illegal to use as a 10 meter radio by anyone.
Read item below. And tell me that I'm still incorrect. The FCC calls them non-certified ``10-meter'' CB transceivers, and non-certified Citizens Band transceivers:

TO BE A CB RADIO THEY HAVE TO BE CERITFIED ... Other wise they are not CB radios.
95.603 ...
(c) Each CB transmitter (a transmitter that operates or is intended
to operate at a station authorized in the CB) must be certificated. No
CB transmitter certificated pursuant to an application filed prior to
September 10, 1976, shall be manufactured or marketed.
The 257 is leagal to use on 10 meters
-
Read what this says. The FCC calls them CB transceivers. So that makes them CB's.

Mad Dog you are correct you can not legallyy use a Galaxy CB they are not Ham radios. I should have said the Galaxy 10 meter radios like the ones found in truck stops. These shown don't have channel selectors they are real Ham radios. Nice looking Boat Anchors by the way. -
" Company was marketing non-certified ``10-meter'' CB transceivers "
if it is not certified it is not a cb it can't be both ..... not certified and a CB Who ever worded the citation needs to go back and read the rules ....
