How can you assume that? I work for Roehl Transport, I don't haul dedicated runs or specialized. I go where they send me and haul every type of steel product and wood product and machinery you can think of. Last I checked Roehl was "for hire".

A thread is about MaVerick, it's NOT about a niche equipment haulers who supposedly roll in dough but their rotten teeth doesn't reflect that for some reason. Maverick is a common OTR flatbed (and reefer) company. They haul all kind of junk on their trailers and because of that "specialized" flatbed experiences, opinions and incomes are not applicable to Maverick.

Why don't you take your fight somewhere else. The main issue I had with your original post was your insult, and you won't address that.

How can I assume that? I did OTR flatbed I've known dozens of OTR flatbed drivers and what you are describing is not how OTR flatbed trucking operates. No delays, super speedy loading/unloading, meals, showers, nope, it wasn't in my flatbed world. I worked for Arrow and Boyd, 2 years each. Arrow used to have lots of 1500+ loads, it wasn't that bad (just a little) but with Boyd's 500-600 miles runs, tarping and customers there is no way, no how to make miles, sleep, have meals and shower. You have to make choices, can't have it all.

What insult? I didn't insult anyone. If you want to work more for less, more power to you.

Well, I'm going to bed, but I'm sorry you had such bad experiences with your time at flatbedding. What I've described is how my experiences have been. Maybe you were with the wrong companies, I don't know and at this point it's moot. Happy Thanksgiving.Les2 Thanks this.

This insult.

That explains why you think flatbedding sucks!
Arrow and Boyd....Both completely horrible companies.
I've been flatbedding since 1973 and it has been very good to me.
By the way, I shower every day, I usually get loaded and unloaded in short order (Hardly ever more than an hour) tarping a load takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops....
You wanna compare delays with vans/reefers?
No appointments, No surly, disrespectful shippers/recievers, No hassles at all for the most part.
If you're flatbedding and you're walking around dirty all the time...You're not very good at it!
American-Trucker, jxu417, Old Tex and 10 others Thank this. -
I did a few months running flats with Western Express before i bowed out of the industry for a while. Western has one of the worst reps in the industry and I didnt have near the issues this guy claims to have had. I went in with no flat experience, got about 2 hours of training on the yard and sent on my way pulling 53 foot spread axles. With a little bit of brain power, a fair amount of common sense and a ton of determination i did pretty well there and was home most weekends with pretty decent mileage and very very rarely had long waits picking up or receiving. Sorry to hear this guy had such a tough go but your your generalizations of flatbedding are not very accurate.

After reading a few more of your posts I can see why you dislike flatbedding! You was doing it for the wrong companies. Like I said earlier, flats should pay percentage not mileage.
