I'm gone after I pay my taxes, I'm financing a Pete and leasing it on to the company my dads with. It's dedicated about 3800 mi/wk going from Athens, tn to Holland, MI then straight back. The money is almost the same, I know having to run expedite in a 379 my mpg is going to hurt me a little bit the extra guaranteed miles and being home every other day for 10 hours and reseting at home every weekend sounds great. I have always enjoyed working with roehl but this screwing us over on our fuel is the final straw. I've gotta come up with 5 more grand and ill be gone.

Not cool. I think the money and a plaque would have been better.

Is the L/O fleet getting hit that hard??? That sucks cause I know Roehl relies on them...heavily and uses them to get loads to places our 63 mph trucks won't get them too...its all about pinching the pennies...
L/O makes alot of companies money cause first they get money for the truck and extremely low overhead as they don't pay to maintain the truck...its on the owner...
IDK it sounds like a scam to me really...get someone to buy an used up fleet truck...have them pay the bills, and you just pay them a little extra for the fuel and the potential owner has to pay for the stuff that costs money...and a truck can break you faster than a Thai hooker with AIDs...

Roehl's rate was already on the low end, but they made up for it by passing on their fuel discount. Now they only give us a small fixed amount and pocket the rest. It works out to cutting our compensation by about $.05 a mile. That combined with low miles and it makes it hard to justify staying with them. If they had done this before I entered the lease I would have looked harder at going to Schneider. It was a close call then, now it's just a matter of figuring out the best way to make the change.

It's not really about the money for me, I still make really good money here. I'm running hard, my normal 3k a week avg. It's a matter of principals I don't believe they should be making money off of our fuel purchases. They already make plenty because as a group we are extremely reliable, professional, and do a really good job for roehl. Not to mention the money they make off of these trucks. I still have no complaints with my hometime or pay. On avg I take home over .50cpm.

I'm glad your miles have remained good, my poor miles have gotten even worse with this new fm. Since he took over I haven't even seen 8,000 in a month. I've said something and was told this is how it is and too bad to you. Now the fuel issue, so I may leave by the end of the first quarter even if I take a huge hit on turning the truck in.

Yea I always felt the same as well, till time and time again I would get hit with fees like getting 9900 miles a month causing me to pay for tags cause i didn't hit 10k or seldom ever getting my detention pays. mine avg. was about .48 cpm but thats before taxes, so in the end its about the same. other then having some extra say... but thats quickly going away not being able to turn down loads getting told "or else"... In the end it was starting to cost me to work, bottom line, and while I left due to my wife's health issues .. I was done dealing with it all as well.

I never looked at it that way, I always was looking at it like leasing a store front for an office, It helps with business and helps generate you more money.. But, when and if it gets to a point it is no longer in your best interest to have a store front and you are paying more out then you are in.. then its time to cut your loss and reel everything back in and rebuild and reinvent your business.. Thats just me though :biggrin_25517:
