While I'm pondering a new career in trucking I'd like to know if any current drivers have figured out a way to bring a bicycle along. Anybody ever strap one down behind the cab/sleeper? I'd like to stay in reasonable shape if I start driving and a bike is my favorite way to do that.
Along the same lines, do any truck stops have workout facilities with treadmills, stationary bikes, weights, etc?

You seem to have visions of Truck Stops being Hilton's. Why not a massage? LOL
I'm sure a few try to have a gym set up.
As for the bike, I remember seeing a pic of a guys truck, had a bike carrier rigged to the back of the sleeper. Bike would take a beating a would think. -

My neighbor (age 68) keeps his strapped behind his cab. Tie downs and bungee cords work fine.

I know a trucker from a blogging website and he has a collapsable bike (I think thats what it was) from Wal Mart and he has his tied down behind the sleeper.

how about a bike rack up front ? don't know if it's legal or not but pretty sure DOT can tell you. probably the best place would be to strap it behind the sleeper but make sure you have it locked down since things seem to grow legs and disapear.

I hadn't considered a folding bike. Takes up less space and I won't have to worry about my good bike. Thanks Ziggy.

well I should clarify. I don't know when / where he got his and I worked for WM last year and never saw one in the bicycle area and a quick scan of their webpage doesn't show anything either. Either way, you can get a cheapy mountian bike from WM for a pretty good price though.
Now heres another question regarding putting it behind the sleeper....do companies allow that? -
My boyfriend just keeps his bike up on the top bunk. I think he pops the front wheel off first just for space.
