I had some eastern block guys work for me, I admit u need to screen them but once they are good then they really are good, you get the right eastern guys then u have a proper workforce ! They can mechanic or drive, unbelievable guys on crash repairs, yeah of course u need to know who you are hiring but an hour of your time can decide that , furthermore , I paid my eastern block guys the same as Irish guys, I never had any problems , it only takes an hour to know if a guy can drive or not, it's up to the employer! Don't blame guys that wanna make a living,

well lot of things can be driven forward which cant be reversed

is it better to have hook on semitrailer on back or below for this

i have feeling that hook below makes centralaxle trailer turning too much while cornering

The hook in normally mounted quite close to the last axle on the trailer as low as possible.
I see if I can get a picture next week, should be a hook on the one I'm supposed to drive (tandem for the first time, will see how that goes)

    Scania man:

I do know you can find good people from all around the world. Just wish it only was the good, not the ones steeling, trowing trash around. Use the local gas station not only the parking space and so on. It really sucks to don't know if you can park close up to a pl, est, rus,,,, truck anymore without anything gets stolen.
I thought everyone that drives a truck now how to repair stuff,, kinda part of the job when you are on the road, calling action service is quite expensive :)

Well enough #### talking about others.

To get something else to think about, a movie I made from this week between Arjeplog and Sorsele in Sweden on my way to Mo I Rana. Love to drive in the northern parts of Sweden

we are afraid of romanian drivers they are like gypsys in fact half of their residents are gypsys

while turkish drivers are very collegial they will always help to you share food tools when you are in itally always someone of them is awake for guard of trucks you can join to them , serbian drivers will always share their alcohol with you

i finally realize how to explain what bother me with this setup

wheelbase from 5th wheel to middle axle for 3axle semitrailers made for 3axle tractors is something like 8050-8250mm

hook is 1500mm from rear , that create about 2m from middle axle to hook

and trailer ( centralaxle) with wheelbase of about 6500+ mm is shorter than first trailer and this demand from you to make big maneuvering with tractor to control last trailer and lot of space ......

Thats the thing, once you know how to reverse it doesn't require any more movment than any other 25.25m. No need to move it from side to side. Just look where the last wheels are.
Think of it as a Truck + dolly + trailer, just that the middle part is quite long. Yes it takes sometimes to get used to it but once you master it...

My practice was back in time exactly with one that drove one of these, wish I would have made some movies then to prove that you can reverse to tricky places to :)

well drawbar is not problem for me especially 3axle trailers 2 axle are little bit tricky

and i can imagine how easy is 4axle with twin tires or dolly+semitrailer

i had an video how my cousin reverse low loader drawbar trailer with 4axle and 30kmh on highway construction site, first try ever with this truck/trailer

just because it is long and lot of wheels

When we are on it. The 4 axel is much tricker than the 3axel + dolly. Not hard but harder :)

There are some dolly trailers that you cant reverse even if you drove in forward.
This is usually when you try reverse up an incline on a curve.
If the connection of the dolly to the towing vehicle is a non load imposing type and is short any out of line reverse pressure can cause it to swing round.
If you are on a curve that requires this you are in a bind.
These type of set ups should be outlawed.

You mean one of these http://www.vbg.no/int/products/kopplingar/vbg_760/
You are not allowed to pull a dolly with that one, but police in some countries don't know the difference, asked a Swedish Technical Police if it's normal people use wrong hitch and he stood like a big question mark.
