There's an online video in the Drivers Online folder at the company website that covers it. Search YouTube for chaining, chaining a semi, etc.

Its really not such a big deal guys. Get em' out, stretch em' out, make sure you have the crossbars the right direction (flip if not,) n' throw iron. Adjust position to get it to drag under the tire, n' repeat for all desired positions. Roll truck forward (or back if on incline) enough to get slack on the attachment fittings, hook em' up, tighten, finish with bungies. Don't forget to find a good place to stop and inspect after a few miles.

It ain't all that big a deal.

Unless you loose your tightening wrenches in the snow! :biggrin_2559:

There are training wheels at driver lineup with chains and cables to practice on.

Now I've never seen anybody take the training chains completely off, but I have seen trainers loosen them an un hook them, then walk the trainee thru the process.

The hardest part about chaining is the heavy chains and the weather conditions you typically deal with while doing it.

It's easy, miserable work when you know how.

I guess knowing how to put chains/cables on is a good thing whether you plan on using them or not....preferably not but if you situation arises as U2 said its best to know

I modify my previous statement. Just went to lineup. Someone removed the chains, and finished the lesson at that point.

Chains were piled in from of the wheels.

Maybe someone tried to teach them self an got frustrated.

Kinda annoying they didn't clean up after themselves.

Oh, BTW I met Silenteagle in the pad. We were observing a guy on his last chance to pass the test. It wasn't going good.

Make sure you check that the chains are not twisted. Make sure all the side rails a streight. This isn't a problem for 3 railers. 3 railers are chains that cover duels. 2 railers just cover 1 tire. Also make sure you have a adjuster key wrench. When putting on the chains have all the adjusters open.

Two more weeks and get my own truck. I might even be home for xmass. Hope all the future super truckers at springmo are weathering all right and ready to hit the road.
