No, the aim of the law is not to make them hands-free, the aim is to reduce distracted driving. (but not eliminate as that is not achievable).

The aim of the law is to reduce disrtracted driving. And if you take a moment and just scan the first few pages of the 66 pages you this law you will see it is very specific about using a phone as a speaker phone, with wired headset or wireless headset is allowed.

As previously stated, I can make and receive calls without ever touching the phone.

The hell it isn't. My phone is linked into my personal email which is linked into just about everything. How many warrants would that take to get all that?
