No, the aim of the law is not to make them hands-free, the aim is to reduce distracted driving. (but not eliminate as that is not achievable).

You all hear about the proposed regulation to stop a CMV operator from taking a hand off the steering wheel??
LoL This is bs. Give me a warrant and I will tell you who my cell provider is and you can request info from them.
-
You sure?
This proves what I've been saying...... hands free and pushing ANY button to activate the voice activated portion IS NOT hands free.
-
But I think you understand that and you're just having some fun on a slow Saturday night.Injun Thanks this. -

BrickmanThe ordinance specifically states that no person shall use a cellular telephone within the city limits, for any purpose, while operating a motor vehicle unless the cellular telephone is specifically designed to allow hands-free operation and is used in a hands-free manner.
"If it is voice-activated and voice-commanded, then that would be acceptable," Kaysen said. "That would be no hands, no manual application to send or receive a text."
Seems like this is a local city ordinance from where your from. -
No comprehension issue.
All I'm doing is pointing out the hypocrisy from their statements and yours.
There is no HANDS FREE opperation like they want here........
The concept of HANDS FREE operation is what is passing them all by.
I'm done peeing into the wind. No amount of politician speak is going to convince the world that they are achieving hands free.
Whats even more hypocritical is that its OK to push one or two buttons to voice activate phone calls but its not OK to push the same one or two buttons to voice activate the talkntext features of the phone.
Thats really asinine.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
The window lickers in DC want us to keep two hands on the wheel so we can dodge all the 4 wheelers with the cell phone in one hand and a Starbucks in the other while driving 80+ mph.
volvodriver01, BigJohn54, SuperLiner and 1 other person Thank this. -
