I am looking forward to reading your new adventures. But for the life of me, I cannot understand the 2 hour free thing? I just don't get it? I mean, you are on duty and you are in the service of the company right? More power to you folks that can put up with that. Again, looking forward to hearing about your new employer.

Today was a good day, lots of paper work, test, movies, good BBQ for lunch. Learned their QC system, and they showed us the new Touch screen ones their putting in with the E-Logs on them. Did all the smith system stuff lol.

Then they threw me the keys to a BRAND NEW 2012 Peterbilt 386 with 143 miles on it!:biggrin_25525: The truck was so new it didnt even have License plates on it yet! Anyway they sent me and another driver to "pre Trip" it :biggrin_2559: Hmm thats new thats new thats new :biggrin_2559: Never seen such a shiny/clean Cummins/truck.

Anyway then the other guy hooked us to a MT flatbed (53' i think i was to excited to look at the length) Anyway he took us out the gate and a few miles up the road, then he pulled over and it was MY turn, The first guy had a hello of a time shifting (15yr+ driver) so i was a little concerned about that. But anyhoo, the mirrors were WAY off and i only had to drive a few miles back to the terminal so I just moved the big 2 and headed out, the transmission was TIGHT just crazyness (Staight 9 Speed/500 Cummins) The truck had a Fridge (all new trucks will have them as well as the tri pac):biggrin_25525:

Anyhoo i made it back just fine no issues other then a few scrapes shifting (but i did allot better then the first guy) most likely because i saw him have trouble.

Anyway so then we went out to dinner, Now me and 2 other guys have to drive to OKC, OK tomorrow 165+/- at 5am to get our TWIC cards, they are paying for it, gave us pre-filled out checks for it today, they also gave me my $60 for my luggage fee from when i flew out here.

Also i learned today, at the moment they have no open trucks (no issue for me as i have to train first anyway so they have a least a week till i'll need a truck (maybe longer). but IF they dont have a truck for you they keep paying for your hotel room AND you get $150/Day to wait for a truck!:biggrin_25514:

Oh and food is always free "i think". When we left the terminal a driver was sitting around and was leaving tonight to head out, and we took him with us to eat and the company paid for it, no questions asked. Which is cool.

I've also noticed a bunch of trucks at the hotel every night, so im thinking that they pay for that as well (not sure on that i'm going to find out though)

Just wondering, nothing negative here, why would they bring you in for orientation and have no trucks? Are they getting in more trucks or expecting someone to quit? Just saying.

they're getting more trucks in. They are getting rid of all of the 389's that have the CAT motors with REGEN crap on them, they've have nothing but problems with them. They also only brought 5 of us here they dont do orientation everyweek. I wasnt told about any other Orientation dates after the one i went too....

So far I'm very impressed with this company.

Another thing (perhaps i should have thought about this a little more before i posted lol)

Today 2 of the test we did were "Orientation Exam" and "Load Securment". I got 100% on the Exam and only 1 wrong on the Secrument test which was better then some of the guys that have been doing heavy haul 20+ years lol. So they gave me another hat (differant kind) and another duffle bag lol. Said i did very well for someone whos never pulled a flatbed lol.

We were also given Hi-Vis Green T-Shirts today as well. I like free stuff :biggrin_2559:

That looks like the Quality Inn. CDL rate is about 1/2 what they normally charge if you don't show up in a truck. In the summer time, a pool-view room is a good thing.:biggrin_255:

They were set at 70 when I was there...:biggrin_25522:

2 hours is figured into the rate, figuring by the time you check in, get loaded, get your paperwork, secure the load, and get ready to roll again you've probably been there about that long. Any longer, and they bill the customer.

When I went to work there, they put me into a Pete w/ less than 600 miles on the clock. Newest truck I've ever driven. I was never too thrilled with the transmission....back then, it was a 10 speed that had the 9 speed's shift pattern. Once you got it into 9th gear, it would auto-shift between 9th & 10th gears.....never when you wanted it to shift, and almost always when you didn't want it to shift.:biggrin_25510:

That right there had me bouncing from the southwest corner of Wyoming to northeast Minnesota to beat a storm that was rolling in over Thanksgiving weekend. I had delivered a load of pipe on Thanksgiving to an oil field, and they hadn't bothered to pre-plan me...and the broker they usually worked with up there was off 'til Monday....and there was a huge storm rolling in that I really didn't want to hang around for.

Take it they don't run in Washington or any other states that require chains certain times of the year.
