Got my 2 drops off and was done at 2am this morning. My reset will be up noon tomorrow, then I load in the afternoon in Vernon. I'm just waiting for Jason to send over my new dispatch.
I had the oppurtunity to back in a Central Refrigerated truck at my first drop this morning. At 1am I was not in the mood to do paperwork after he came within an inch of taking my hood off. I was not in the mood to play helper with my truck as the pivot point. I told this new driver that it would be so much easier if I did it then if he did. Trying to back in at the LA produce market at 1am had him very rattled. He agreed. The only thing I asked him to do was observe. He thanked me profusely and wanted to give me $20. I refused and told him the next time he gets a produce load to any market to turn it down. I'm just glad the kid let me do it for him. His way would have had me sitting in LA with no truck.
Note:
Got my load info over the computer. Load at 6am in Vernon then delivery Wednesday in Pottsville. My reset will be done at 1am local time. I love when a plan comes together like this. I'm now looking ahead to getting home next week. My wife and daughter are taking the grandbaby to Disney next weekend and right now I am planning on meeting them in Orlando next Saturday, spend 2 days with them then deliver my load and be home for Christmas.Last edited: Dec 9, 2011
1catfish and The Challenger Thank this. -
Well this has NOT been the smoothest of weeks for me. Now I have to say this first. None of what has transpired is in anyway Calex's fault. It's just a case of the trucking 'hoodoos' that come up from time to time.
It started on Tuesday with a load to Brooklyn that I had the pleasure of waiting on. Nothing like spending 10 hours parked on Flushing Ave watchng the traffic go by. I had it better then some other drivers from other companies though. Some of them were there for two days waiting to deliver.
Then when I go to pick up my next load in Lewisburg, a drop & hook, I find my loaded trailer has a flat tire. Oh well, off to the truckstop to get it repaired. Got that taken care of and headed down to Mississippi with it.
Got that one delivered and headed north to Corinth to pick up my reload. I stop for a restroom break, check the tires and guess what....another flat.
I find a small tire shop near my pick up and get that taken care of and I'm off to my pick up. I get there and find out that my load in on a Werner trailer. Great. After a few phone calls we get it straightened out, but now they have to off load the Werner trailer and put it on mine. Right now I'm sitting here waiting for them to finish that up.
So much for making it up to I-40 tonight. I'm just going to go back to the little crappy truckstop and roll with it tomorrow as I have plenty of time to get it to it's destination.Last edited: Dec 9, 2011
