some KBR dudes ride around in Armored Kenworths and what not. I cant stand KBR cuz they think they are better then the military people. But its us who protects you while your over there. if it was up to me I would keep all civilains out of there and let the military do there job. I guarded TCN(third country national) in Iraq from 2009-2010 and we only got hit by 1 little IED just a nuisance.
Highly considering going to work in Afghanistan

Also, the company I'm working for is hiring for the oilfields here in South TX. That would be Martin Transport.
In either case you'll need your X endorsement (HazMat & Tanker) and your TWIC card.
$75k is very doable in the oilfields. You can certainly make more over in Afganistan and the first $80k or so is tax free. But then again, you don't have to dodge bullets over here. PM me if you'd like more info.
Eddjtrype Thanks this. -
you can make 60k at my place all year. you can make 60-70 doing heavy haul at some places and you can make 60-70 running Canada at others.
I almost went to Iraq in 05. Found a guy ion the forums who hooked me up with kbr. I was approved, give a date to go to TX for orientation and I backed out at the last minute..... A friend didn't come home from Baghdad and another came back with some problems. I decided against it in the end. I got a kid and wife at home plus clean sheets and a nice house...had I been single and no kids....I would of went and stayed till they kicked me out LOL
GL with what ever you do. But just keep in mind the risks, living condition's and the like.djtrype Thanks this. -

I was in MI at one of our OCs getting work done on my truck while there I meet another driver waiting on a app first thing in the morning we got to talking and he mentioned he was a driver over in Iraq a couple of years ago. He spend I believe a year and a half there, he told me while there he made around 135k tax free. He showed me a couple pics of the truck he drove just the tractor alone weight 75k because of all the armor plating it had. He also told me a few stories, once his truck got hit by an IED he was unable to get it moving again so he had to ditch it and the military who was escorting him rather than risking the bad guys getting their hands on the cargo just blew it up. Another story he told me was that he is instructed to stop for no reason, so one time this guy who had a local police uniform stood in the middle of the street and tried to stop his convoy he ended up just running him over and keep going.
Now I don't know if everything he told me was real but I kinda believed him another driver asked how one could get a job like this he told us that he knew the right people and unless you had hook ups you might as well not even try to get a job like this. To the OP if your still thinking of going over there you should watch this video of some truckers over there, its not pretty.

I can understand if the military does not want civilian contractors being armed, but there is no way I could do the job without.
Of course it would still be dangerous, but that is all the more reason to have every tool available to increase your safety. I won't even drive California without being armed. -
Conservative to the Bone.
