OK ... so I have heard all the recruiting pitches. And, they ALL include the following line, "Our drivers are among the best paid in the industry."

My question is ... who are the highest paid company drivers? (OK, dumb question ... the drivers who drive the most are the highest paid drivers. Duh.) What I mean is, which company pays their drivers the most? Mile per mile, what company pays their company drivers the most?

Just looking at cpm won't tell you who you will make the most money with. On top of that two drivers at the same company making the same rate can easily end up with two different paychecks. It all depends on the driver and how they're dispatched.

Starting out, try to find a quality company over anything else. It'll pay off in the end.

There's no point in a student asking this because the highest paying companies require at least 2 years experience .

After a couple years, companies like Wal-Mart, UPS line haul, and other LTL transportation specialist will be an option. Better pay, benefits, and the biggest thing......they are local or regional (home everyday) not monopolizing your time sitting in a truck stop. I think the total loss of your personal time off, is the biggest turn off of our industry......but after you get a couple years under your belt, and no accidents, things get better.

I'm paid well and home everynight as I drive for a contracting company in a tri axle dump.

As others have said, get some experience under your belt and it will open up many doors. I've only been in the business as a driver for a few years and I have it great where I'm at. I'm also only 24 yrs of age.

Best paid ? Or better treated ??

If they treat their drivers like ####. I don't care if a company pays me $2 a mile.

There are many company drivers out here that are earning $1500 and more a week. But you need to look closely at their actual job duties and the company they work for.

While we would all like to make as much as we can. There's a balancing act that has to be done with any company. Home time, physical labor involved, hours actually worked...the list goes on and on.
