Hey AT-How are you?I've been following this.My background is wrecker/flatbeds/oversize.I hope it all works out for you.Missle launchers are a lot more fun hauling around than dry van stuff.Take care.Brian

Hey AT congrats on LST should be a fun wild ride. Winter is upon us and that makes things interesting. Why LST what stood out that made you pick them, TMC has some really nice Pete's and there training is crazy long lots of good info, just wondering? Good luck out there and don't fall off while tarping LoL!
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
I'm doing great, i hope it works out too.

I chose LST because there is somewhere to go with them. With a company like TMC/Melton etc all your doing is cheap flat freight and tarping everything. At LST they do everything from 48' flats to HUGE custom made trailers with steerable axles and stuff, and they dont tarp much at all most of their stuff is straps n' Chains, and they dont pull cheap freight. LST also pays very well payscale gose from .40cpm to .50cpm, they also pay more if lets say your on a oversize load and you have to wait on permits and everyday your fighting curfew and it takes 4 days to go 1000 miles they will pay you extra for the wasted time...TMC and the other BFI companies would laugh at you for asking for more money.
LST also has a complete Peterbilt fleet, but their trucks, unlike TMC's trucks are acutlly spec'd properly. and they dont govern their trucks at 62their at 65
it aint much but for me i can deal with 65, and most of LST's freight it Oversize anyway and company policy on the BIG over size stuff is 55mph max anyway.
LST is also a very small company, in my exp and what you'll learn from other drivers is that smaller companies are often the better companies to work for.
Also they have very good CSA scores, NOTHING on Rippoff Report, and had nothing posted about them on here. Oh and best of all they dont hire new drivers, so their low score should stay low, and you wont see as many stupid issues like training companies offer (like POS messed up trailers dropped and not had the damages reported so you get their and get to fix THEIR mess).

Well today we had a trailer loaded with pipe, 3 layers (LST doest like Pyramid stacked pipe) and anyway it was loaded on a Spread and going to Canada....well they only allow 20K on spreads not 40K like here. So they say lets pull the top layer off resecure and weight it.
1st weigh - 25*** on spread
go back, boss man says slide the load forward, so we slide it all the way to the front of the trailer
2nd Weigh - 23*** D'OH!
go back boss man says slide it up some more, LST trucks are suposed to be able to handle 18" of overhang on the front
3rd Weigh - 22*** M$&$%^*& F%&&%er
go back boss man says take 3 more off
4th weigh - 21*** WTF!
go back boss man says, No F$^$in way your still over weight!Boss man says pull 3 more off, i said we'll still be over 120lbs but did what we were told...
5th Weigh -20,180lbs
go back, boss man say slid it a little more forward, square them up and let the driver go weigh it (the driver going to canada).
so for the 6th time we undid 11 straps shuved the load forward and strapped it down again. Driver says (well i'll weigh it in the morning)
Whatever I hope he scales it ok, he's got a brand new 386 so he has a light truck, but i'm thinking he'll still be over on the trailer by at least 50-100lbs....i guess i'll find out tomorrow.
So we spent from 8am to 6:30pm doing and redoing 1 load of pipe. But on the bright side i did get to practice securing and unsecuring pipe. I think i got this one down.....
So at least 1 more day of training to go, tomorrow i know we have 5 more loaded trailers of pipe we have to unload, not sure if we are reloading them or putting the pipe in the racks...
Weather was great today 80* and partially sunny, got a good workout with all them straps.
