There is no law in GA against hand held cell phones, only against texting.
Safe Road.Org, those people can go $%^& themselves and stay out of the transportation industry. If I used their philosphy, since I had a car run head on into me, I should have all cars taken off the road.

Sorry, but I need my phone,(I do use a handsfree device), people call me for business, if I don't answer, they'll call someone else. Maybe it works for you, but not for me.

Haha I'm beginning to see why we have stupid warning labels on all consumer products. Seems we are flooded with imbeciles that need big brother to pass laws to protect them from themselves. If these tools have their way in a few years you won't be able to buy a ladder shorter than 6' because there isn't enough room for all the warning labels. Seriously guys if you can't handle a cell phone call as an adult, how did you survive the pencil as a kid? Better hope none of them choke on a piece of candy, they'll want to outlaw that next! Simply amazing

DUDE,,, I need a cell just like you do,,,I use a blue tooth(headset with boom mic really, and i only have it on for actual call, then I take it off) matter of fact i rarely even take my cell phone out of the truck(Its not married to me)

As for the 2 highlighted lines,,,I listen to FOX news all day(they on each and every show i listen too are very against this proposal)

The other is my personal OPINION on this thread,as in any thread that has to do with new regulation ,it will"Grow Legs" as i say (look where the CSA went) i know for the most part people shoot from the hip and let the opinion fly,,,thats kewl and all but some cant separate fact from channel 19 lawyers

As for me praising current and or future new regs,I guess all the explaining I try to do was in vain (CSA),,I can only do it legal,I have no other recourse as im on ELOGS and thus have to do it(No gray area) And if your not on them thats kewl with me,,,Its all good

But as you asked,,did you look at the thread I started a week or so ago?
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ions/162626-what-you-going-do-hos-ruling.html

My reply is on page #3 when ask so what are you going to do??? it sums even this thread up also,,,

I think(My Opinion) i think at the very least CMV drivers should use hands free(crap cars too)

we got a msg today our qualcomm will only work when stopped(as of Jan1st,,has to do with this new order,(b4 u ask,ELOGS only works when ur stopped anyway)LOL,,we wont be able to send or read sent msgs

Were all good there Mr Volvo,I know where you stand im kewl with that,,

Btw;even with a handsfree here are the times i hang up
    1.Before i get into a truckstop
    2.Before I get to a customer
    3.I never eat and talk
4.never dial unless im done shifting and at road speed
    5.Scales
    6.Heavy traffic,,,Etc....

I got my Qualcomm mounted in a frame(with cell phone holder) in plain view,so im not fumbling with that device, and i havent had a CB in my truck in like 5 years,so for the most part i try to be "distraction free" View attachment 13829

Not trying to pat myself on the back or anything, just trying to do my part out here

I might have mentioned a movement device like a gyroscope kind of deal to prevent cell use above 5 mph.

I am not against cell phones, I am troubled about DISTRACTIONS in general. I am at fault here and I can prevent those distractions by removing the hazard.

As a 4 wheeler I have just as many distractions as you do. You are in many cases longer than I am and have a more difficult time finding a parking place. But distractions at the wheel are much the same because a panic action most likely will cause a mishap and at best pucker your butt and take a deep breath.

I am all for critical thinking but to totally disregard actual facts and make excuses is lame at best.

And one other thought here: I may not be an OTR driver but I did drive a big truck while in the Navy and I used to haul explosives from California to Va, and NJ once upon a time. I saw a lot of you hot shots making huge blunders in my 4 years otr. As a civilian I log around 90K a year since I travel to multible states and I see again the hots shots on 4 and 18 wheelers making those same blunders. I am glad I have those nice creature comforts that we didn't have 25 years ago when I was OTR. But with those conveniences comes responsibility and restraint and those are the foundation to the under lieing problem.

This bobtail is of the opinion that this is a good thought and suggestion from the NTSB but it won't go anywhere because it will cost too much to enforce and what revenue it makes won't cover the man hours spent in enforcement.

Now if your gonna start your knee jerk ignorant rant of big government at leats try to properly state my position. I know your so good at telling me what I think, and making up quaint fantasies to fit your flawed thought process.

I do not care if you use your phone to pleasure yourself in a cab, a limo, an ambulance, a plane..........what you do to yourself with your phone is between you and your partner.

What I have said and agree with is if you want to stop the swerving idjits that think they are multitasking is to follow those recommendations to make it quite impossible. Further all the pitiful excuses provided of it will make fatigue go up, or stress, or cause late loads, kill family members that might have been saved if but you could have recieved your phone call are childish and ludicrous. People forget their purpose on these roads. And if making a law concerning conduct on a public road keeps you from killing someone swerving down the road discussing which lotion prevents chafing so be it.

Just as backwards as usual. I have every confidence in my use it is yours I question. I have seen the multitaskers swerving all over. I saw one kill a lady and injur her two kids in Plant City because he just had to get that fax.

I already treat my truck as a (brace yourself this may come as a shock) a truck used to pull a trailer safely and effectively between points for compensation. Not as an inconveniance to running a trucking business. If running your business is interfering with your driving(Yes yes it is despite your claim) perhaps you should do one or the other.
