How long does it take to get into a 387. I could be quite content witht the 379. Are you getting your weekly miles or are they sitting you for a couple days a week? Have you been able to test out to get your own truck other than the time that the tester didn't pass you.

With a little more experience you'll be able to jump from truck to truck without it bothering you that much.

Just this yr alone I've driven a T6 (lots of visibility there) a 1979 International wide hood dump truck (no visibility there) a 1980 Ford dump (a little better) a 1980 Pete, not sure of the model (not as bad as the IH dump for visibility, but not like a T6) a 2008 W9 (visibility about like the IH) and a Western Star, not sure the yr but still not the frontal visibility of a T6. Switching from one to the other only takes about half a day to adjust. But then I've been driving for a while. Once you get there you'll be OK with the different models too.

In my opinion the ability to switch from model to model like that makes a guy a better driver, and better equipped to adjust to changing situations around you.

It's nice to hear about the different models in reference to safety. Do you think there are specific trucks that a short person couldn't drive because of visibility, or all of them should be able to adjust, with a booster seat, blocks of wood on the pedals:biggrin: or maybe platform shoes?:smt082

I agree. Diverse drivers show they can handle many situations and are bound to do better.

For short legged folks you are screwed. Unless there is a truck model with movable pedals like the 2008 Ford SuperDuty's have. The whole pedal assembly adjusts forward or backward depending on the needs of the driver. My wife would have a very hard time driving a semi because she is short and has short legs. The steering wheel would be in the full forward tilt and she could slide the seat up until she touched the steering wheel and still have a hard time touching the pedals adequately.

If you have expernice it may be a shorter wait But I have heard with no experince it may be 3 - 6 months you may get a 387 you may be lucky and get one sooner.

I just got to layton and I will be testing in the morning the tester that I will be getting in the morning has rode with me on my first day and I was told if my driving was not good I would of got sent packing in orentation. It has happened to other people here.

I just have to remember to use the space in front of my truck to turn not to try and cutt it short.

I will b e testing in a centry class freightliner the truck that I learned in so it will be eaiser and I also have done all of the driving for the last two days.

I will be getting assigned a truck and driver manager tomorrow

I screwed up again I shifted on the tracks. I going to brooks to try again.
The only thing that kept me here was my trainer telling the boss that I am a goo driver.

You know what they say! 3rd times a charm! Well, I do wish you good luck.:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519: The recycle icon was the closest thing I could come up with that looked like a clover. Oh:biggrin_25524: wait a minute, a four leaf (not three) clover is supposed to be lucky, oh well. I just noticed the icons for the posts have a spade, & a heart, but no clover or diamond. I guess there's a good reason to have that ol black spade here!

When you get to those tracks ... think "dont shift" just like the intersection. Look at those tracks and put it in your head. Good luck . You can do it .
