Wow. Not to be harsh but it is when I read "complaints" like this one that makes me repeat earlier comments that I made asking "So what is wrong exactly with CRE"?

Falling asleep in the first day of classes would seem to be an issue any "school" or company would have..... certainly would have been an issue in any office meeting I ever attended or any class back when I was in college.

LOL And even funnier to me is if a person cannot stay awake in the early hours of the first class, would you really want them on the road driving? I think being booted from the school had to have been expected.

Did the CR England school thing and I am NOT(!!) a fan, BUT,,, if you got canned for falling asleep then you were ASLEEP(!!!!!!) or there is more to this story then your telling.
Everyone falls asleep in CR classes. When you put 95 people in a room built for 40 it is bound to happen. The hours and the studying and the BORNING a__ stuff that they talk about, constent interuptions, dull monotone voices, and the stuffy room... well more than one person has fell asleep.
Yes it is a scam but there is more to this story.

It is hard to explain what is wrong with CR England but if you have a choice to work at McDonald's flipping burgers or drive for England I would strongly suggest flipping burgers.
It is possible that ALL the major companies are like England in how they ummm- do things-, but people I went to class with are now with other firms and they all say the grass IS greener on the other side.

something doesnt add up.....I went to the dallas school and they woke up people sleeping in class all the time. infact that one of my only big complaints with the school, they give ppl to many chances.

They did the right thing it sounds like, if you cant stay away thru someone talking to you because you had a few thing wake you up the night before, how the heck do you thing you will do driving with no one talking to you and a reefer unit turning off and on thru out the night?

Still like i said they gave people chance after chance after ect ect......something doesnt add up.

When did you go to the Dallas school? How are things going for you now? I might have to go to Dallas to retrain being out of action for 2 years now.

I would say dismissed for a felony conviction on your record that you did not reveal before you took the bus ride to Indiana.

I don't see a scam here guy. If you can't stay awake in class which by the way would show
some interest in what you were doing. Then you scammed yourself believing they would even
put you behind the wheel at all. Sure looks like a hokey post to me and I'm waiting to find out why
I got DQed. But then again, I always avoid band wagons.

    Here's my piece on England:

Went to the Dallas school in September of '08. Watched as people were dropped left and right. We started in a room large enough for 120 people, and finished with only about 20. One of the first things they said to us was if you fall asleep, you will be asked leave. Seems to make sense as if you fall asleep driving a truck, you could die or kill others. I caught myself nodding off a couple of times, so I just got up and stood in the back of the room.

October '08 got my phase 1 trainer. Guy was great. Long conversations about life, love, government, and politics. We started similar views, so it was cool. Only one issue the whole time, no big deal. Finished up phase 1 and went back to Dallas to test into phase 2. Now, since my phase 1 trainer hated not rolling, I picked up my 30k required miles by mid-November. Passed my test to enter phase 2 with flying colors. Left Dallas on the dreaded greyhound after thanksgiving, bound for Burns Harbor, IN. My dm said I would get a trainer faster up there. Sat for a week in their ###### hotel next to a strip club with nothing else within a 20 minute walk. Due to Texas not mailing or my hardcopy license before I left for Indiana, I only had a paper license and the hr department in slc didn't like that, so after a 8 days of sitting in that ###### hotel and nothing to eat the last 4 days, I finally got a trainer but he was told to leave me their because of my paper license. Call my dm and tell him to get me home.

Get home, contact Texas dps, get my license rush delivered, finally get a phase 2 trainer at the beginning of January. This is where the fun began. Second trainer is super cool and only about 10 years older than me (22 at time). We start running hard, full shifts, no bs, just running. Every week, we pack our bol's into a trippack, get them scanned, get receipts for the scans, and keep rolling. And every week, we'd get a message on the Qualcomm saying some bs about why we were only getting paid for half the loads we ran. I'm not saying once or twice this happened, literally every week. I was bringing home 300 to 400 dollars every 2 weeks, and someone with a wife and kid at home, that ain't good. After 3 months in phase 2 (only got to go home once for 4 days) due to a truck shortage, finally got through phase 2, and caught a greyhound from Colorado Springs to SLC. I heard that company divers were getting shared on miles in favor of lease operators, so decided to do a lease. Read everything twice, looked for stuff that didn't look or sound right, but other than the truck and insurance payment being auto deducted from your settlement, everything looked normal. I sat waiting for my turn to pick a truck, but I had to come home to handle done things with my apartment complex. Before I left slc, I picked my stuff up, dressed my crap down to the secure locker storage, and was told it would be ok to leave it for a few days.

Went home, came back, and the only thing left was my cooler. All my clothes and things had been stolen. I waited another week to get my truck, signed for it, and went home (now into April 2009) to get my personal items since all mine were stolen. Get my load back home and pick up my first student. I was the youngest trainer up to that point in the companies history, and was training guys 2x my age. Over the next 6 months, my Cascadia went from 8k miles to over 100k miles. Got good millage most times, stayed on the road 4-5 weeks at a time, ran through students like they wanted, and out of 4 students, only had to kick one argumentative old geezer off.

Decided to run solo for a while. Messaged my dm saying I needed 2 weeks off in September move, but that I would be running for 2 months straight. I ran my time, got my load home, parked truck at my apartment finally relaxed a little. Keep in mind that I had no late loss, no accidents, no damaged loads, and except for a couple of scale tickets for not having the trailer spread out properly, no real issues.

I had been home for about 4 days when my dm starts calling me. Asking when I'm back out. I rehash the 2 months 2 weeks conversation with him, he seems ok with it. Couple more days go by, he starts bugging me again. Same thing again. I'm due back on the road in 3 days when he calls says the lease company is terming my lease, won't say why, but says they want to truck back. I call the lease company and ask what's up, but they have no idea what I'm taking about. Call my dm back and he tells me I'll have to talk the fleet dm, so I call the guy. And I call the guy, and call, and call, and call. He never bothered calling me back.

So they came and picked it up. Charged me $5k for repairs, even though I had just put new seats, new tires, an alignment, and a major pm service. Charged me another $3k for school, and told me to go f#$! myself.

I swore off trucking for 4 years. It cost me my marriage, my home, my livelihood, and destroyed my credit. I grossed $76k between April and September 2009. I brought home $23k after truck payments, insurance, fees, fuel, and maintenance cost.

At the time, it ruined my life. But I had 1 year otr, 250k miles under belt, 6 months o/o experience, and a severely depleted sense of accomplishment.

Long story short, I wouldn't piss on an England truck if it was on fire.

You're not alone, jestedsniper, and it's truly unfortunate that so many new drivers are still being put through the exact same BS with CRE. Good luck getting back on your feet!

Many people do not understand who CRE operates. His DM was power less and unable to tell him they were going to take the truck if he didn't get back on the road. I guess the lease company see's the guy is going to be under water on his payments and figure to just cut him loose. This is why companies like leasing trucks, you are locked in. Since he was parked two weeks, they weren't making money. So much for being an "Independent contractor."
