here we go again freight fans, another bad sad story about swift.

I finally got my CDL class a permit on 12/2/2011, and got arrangements set up to go to the training school in Millington, TN [with SWIFT] to begin on 12/19/2011. My Recruiter Crege was rather friendly and gave me the option of either taking the bus, or driving up using my own car (he told me that they would re-imburse me the cost of gas up to the amount that a bus ticket would have cost). Being a person who enjoys driving, I chose to drive myself up there. BIG MISTAKE

I left home on 12/17/2011 and had an almost uneventful drive until...

Around 9:30 AM this past Sunday between exits 30 and 36 on US 78/Future I-22, my car's air compressor gives out. Thankfully there was 1 wrecker company open and willing to work with me on the cost. The Bad news, I find out that my unemployment check did get put n the bank account yet, so I got to play "homeless for a night".

I called my recruiter and left a message that day to let him know that I got stuck and need to get re-scheduled for another week.

Thanks to my dad, and my unemployment coming in, we were able to get things back in motion again. I managed to get a hotel room that night, so I emailed Crege to let him know what happened.

I figured that since they don't let people begin training late, it would be best to turn back and go home. I managed to finally get back yesterday, and since then , there has been no reply to any of my messages... at all.

Is it always this smeggin' hard to get into the trucking industry?

Maybe it was the A/C compressor.

The 1990 Oldsmobile Touring Sedan I used to have had an air compressor for the auto leveling on the FE-3 suspension. But if the compressor died, like on mine, it just meant the auto leveling wouldn't work, it wasn't a vital compoonent.

How can you think it wasn't vital?

Without it...you're going down the highway...all ####-eyed...just like everyone else!:yes2557:

Let's see if I have this straight. The A/C compressor in your car went out. That left your can unable to be driven? Does playing "homeless for a night" mean you didn't have enough money for a motel room and slept in your vehicle or on a bus bench somewhere?

A leason for everyone, don't leave home so broke that you can't get to where you're going or get back home if you have a problem.:biggrin_25513:

Sooo, what does this story have to do with Swift?

Nothing personal dude, I really feel your pain here, it sucks to be without means, I have been there... But this has nothing to do with Swift or any other trucking company for that matter.

I do wish you luck getting a job man. Keep trying.
